Position Overview

The Safety Training Coordinator oversees all safety and emergency programs within the company. This position requires independent functioning and relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals. The Safety Training Coordinator reports to and receives direction from the Human Resources Manager.

Essential Duties

Safety 

• Oversees Safety and Emergency Programs including:
  1. Writing programs and training materials
  2. Trains all staff on safety guidelines and rules.
  3. Researching and enforcing all OSHA, State, and Federal safety and emergency laws, guidelines and rules making sure the company is in compliance.

• Works to mitigate and evaluate risks throughout the production floor and on site.
• Conducts frequent job analyses and safety audits
• Develop guidelines for equipment protection.
• Responsible for all reporting and recordkeeping regarding incidents, updated policies, equipment repairs, data research, and employee complaints (conducts investigations and resolves issues) 
• Assists HR Manager with the strategic development and implementation of an accountability system aimed at safety prevention. 
• Conducts inspections of day and night shift teams in the field to ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Collaborates with HR Manager to monitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and Worker's Compensation Claims. Ensures all accidents and incidents are reported and investigated properly.
• Follows up with Managers and Supervisors on accident/incident action plans to ensure they are implemented and completed.
• Supports Safety Committee Meetings and presents Safety issues at hand in efforts to obtain commitment dates for their completion.
• Administer safety audits in various areas and present results on a weekly/monthly basis or as needed.
• Updates the Safety Board as needed with information on most recent accidents, safety chat, bulletins, etc.
• Establishes cooperative working relationships with all departments.
• Serve as liaison with the insurance company on both pre-and post-loss control in the absence of HR Manager; maintain information on all injury and liability claims and investigate as necessary.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Trainer

• Ensure all drivers receive proper training in driving, safety, loading, tie-downs, etc.
• Implement comprehensive training programs for staff, covering new hire, refresher, and remedial training to ensure safe work practices and safeguard organizational assets.
• Prepare and maintain records, files, reports, and documentation related to safety and training activities.
• Develop standard operational procedures and processes for each department's PPE needs.
• Train staff on standard operational procedures and processes via LMS system.

Qualifications

• 2- 5 years of experience in Safety, Training, or HR preferred 
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as demonstrated in training presentations, written manuals and accident investigations
• Display aptitude and analytical skills 
• Be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma, GED or work experience 
• skills.
