Responsibilities:
- Schedule patients, collect co-pays
- Review and analyze medical records in ATHENAhealth to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate ICD-10 codes to diagnoses and procedures
- Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims for reimbursement
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for billing purposes
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any billing discrepancies
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding systems
- Knowledge with ATHENA medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Strong communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus
