Henry Ford College is Hiring a Learning Lab Associate II (Part-time) Near Dearborn, MI

HFC presents an opportunity for a part-time Lab Associate II in the Learning Lab.

The Lab Associate II is responsible for providing support and quality customer service for all programs and initiatives of the Learning Lab and Tutoring Services. This position interacts with internal (students, faculty, staff, administrators) and external constituents daily. The Lab Associate II will perform multiple tasks, including individual duties, portions of team projects, and front-line service. This position provides supervision to student workers.

This is a 12-month, 20-hours-per-position.

Fall/Winter Hours

Monday and Thursday: 2:30-6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 12:30-4:30 p.m.

* One (1) year of experience in a front-line, front-facing, customer service position.

* An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution or a combination of education and experience may be considered.

* Experience working with computer technology, software, and multimedia equipment.

* One (1) or more years of experience working with computer technology, software, and multimedia equipment in an educational setting"

* One (1) year of recent or relevant experience working in an educational environment, in a customer service role.

Technology Management - Keeps up-to-date on technological developments. Makes effective use of technology to achieve results. Ensures access to and security of technology systems.

* Familiarity with textbook software/online course materials

* Facility with Ellucian Colleague system (Datatel/HANK), WebAdvisor, and WebFOCUS

* Knowledge of learning management systems preferred

* Strong computer/technology skills with proficiency in Office 365 suite. The desire and ability to keep current with software updates and learn new computer processes and software as needed.

Technical Credibility - Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.

* Ability to use good judgment in handling office matters in a confidential and discrete manner.

* Strong analytical skills are required.

Customer Experience - Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers including students, staff, and the community. Delivers high-quality services; is committed to continuous improvement.

* Superior ability to work with faculty, staff, and students in a professional manner.

* Excellent written and verbal/oral communication skills required

* Responsible for opening and/or closing the Learning Lab, including booting and/or shutting down all computers, checking rooms, locking doors, clean-up, and preparing services for the next day or week.

* Run and manage tutoring and data collection software such as TutorTrac, NetTutor, and Sierra, and assist with data collection, organization, and reporting.

* Maintain departmental files and records.

* Provide technical support and prepare all materials for the tutoring program and test preparation assistance. This could include updating the website and setting up testing software for the upcoming semester. Run and maintain print management and circulation software and hardware. Monitor online tutoring program, including assisting students and staff with utilizing the service, and troubleshooting technical issues.

* Answer and screen telephone calls and greet visitors in a polite, professional, and effective manner.

* Set up and maintain schedules for tutors and clerks and monitor absences. Schedule tutoring appointments.

* Exercise direction over employees of lower classification, when required. This may include assisting with recruitment, scheduling, training, and management. Assist with recruitment, training, and management of student employees.

* Maintain a clean, neat, friendly, positive professional learning environment.

* Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies for all learning support services in the Learning Lab.

* Regularly check the operational status of computers/software and arrange/monitor repairs.

* Assist with monthly operational reports on computers, printers, and support equipment.

* Prepare handouts, memos, letters, etc., as needed.

* Assist with utilization data collection, organization, and reporting, as needed.

* Monitor students per the College's Policy on Academic Dishonesty.

* Assist students with available learning support resources.

* Assist with the management of test preparation software, and other software that may be added in the future.

* Assist with test preparation (for example, the Nursing Admissions Test). This requires one-on-one time with each student to determine needs and direct them to appropriate review resources.

* Collect, track, and make deposits for the print management system.

* Assist with the delivery and distribution of informational material for college success workshops and any additional resources available to students. This includes handouts, posters, PowerPoint slides for campus TV monitors, and e-mails to staff and the student body.

* Conduct tours of the Learning Lab for students, faculty/staff, and other visitors.

* Serve on department, division, and/or college committees.

* Assist in the Library's Media Center or at the Circulation Desk as needed.

* Other duties as assigned.
