VTSU Online Adjunct Instructor — ENG-1070-SO01: Effective Speaking

Vermont State University Online seeks an adjunct instructor to teach two sections of an English course during the Fall 2024 semester. The course will be taught 100% online using Canvas.

POSITION: Part-time, Adjunct Instructor

RESPONSIBILITIES: VTSU Online uses Canvas and provides a generic course template for all courses. The instructor is responsible for adding outcomes, academic materials, discussion and assignment that support the course description. Additionally, VTSU Online instructors are obligated to adhere to the VTSU Online Standards that address instructor presence, student engagement, instructor expectations, and assessment of student work.

Course No & Name: ENG-1070-SO01: Effective Speaking (3 credits)

Course description:

In this course, students study and practice the elements of effective oral communication, gaining experience and confidence in the preparation and delivery of oral presentations. Students prepare and deliver multiple short informative and persuasive speeches, practicing how to choose, limit, and arrange what they say according to their audience and purpose, and to use visual aids and cite sources appropriately.

Qualifications:

For consideration, candidates must possess at least a master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience. Experience in online teaching is essential, and familiarity with Canvas desired.
