Title: Developer II (DEV II)

Department: Governor’s Office of Information Technology

Summary:
The Developer II is responsible for various aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), primarily focusing on application development and support. They collaborate with stakeholders, adhere to established standards, and contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of applications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Application Development and Support:
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects and others to design applications aligned with organizational strategies.
  • Assist in creating estimates and timelines for development projects in coordination with Business Analysts and Project Managers.
  • Develop applications in accordance with business requirements using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Coordinate system changes and contribute to the implementation of solutions while updating relevant documentation.
  • Organize and validate code segments for User Acceptance Testing.
  • Ensure adherence to service portfolio policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Determine optimal coding approaches to meet current and future enhancement needs.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to development policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate across departments and engage resources as needed to fulfill project requirements.
  • Resolve development issues efficiently to meet customer requirements.
  • Tracking and Reporting of Work Assigned:
  • Develop work effort estimates in consultation with supervisors.
  • Record time spent on work activities in the project tracking system.
  • Provide progress reports to supervisors or project managers as requested.
  • Estimate completion times for assigned work activities accurately.
  • Additional Duties As Assigned:
  • Perform any additional tasks delegated by supervisors.
  • May be required to travel to various agency locations throughout the state.
  • May undergo subsequent background screening per organizational policies.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Work Experience:
  • 2 years of hands-on programming experience in applications development.
  • Education/Training:
  • Undergraduate degree in information technology, computer science, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education at the discretion of the hiring manager.
  • Functional/Technical Knowledge & Skills:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with C#, .NET, and SQL.
  • Proficiency in working collaboratively across the SDLC.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for system integration.
  • Proficient in time and task management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • No certifications required; ITIL, Agile, and DevOps certifications are beneficial.

  • Interpret business requirements to recommend and develop technical solutions effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.00 - $64.00 per hour
