Job Description

John Crane in Morton Grove Il currently has a need for a Mechanical Designer for a full time opportunity. The designer prepares layouts and component drawings, and designs according to engineering specifications. This will be a Hybrid opportunity with the ability to work from home a couple of days a week.
Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain quality, accuracy and completeness independently. Investigate and procure all data required to develop a design for a specific seal application.
• Make technical recommendations and/or seal identifications and conversions to customers.
• Assign drawing and GCN's using using John Crane Web Tools.
• Analyze design and confer with engineering to resolve details not completely defined.
• Use ADC to search for existing parts and EBOM's and create a new part number if necessary.
• Display final drawing on screen to verify completeness, clarity, and accuracy of drawing.
• Perform routine calculations and prepares bills of materials using data furnished by engineering.
• Provide engineering information and support to sales personnel.
• Train, check and direct preparation of drawings by other personnel with less experience, as required.
• Inspect incoming parts to verify critical dimensions match component drawings, as required.
• Use Team Center to check drawing in and out of the system.
• Distribute final drawings to Sales Rep. and/or inside sales.
• May be required to move, raise and lower material weighing up to 35 lbs.
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Minimum 3 years experience in mechanical design
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to complete quick turnaround projects.
• Able to work on solo projects.
• Capable of using 2 and 3D software . (SolidEdge)
