New Leaf Energy, Inc. is Hiring a Remote Regional Technical Lead, New York

Description

New Leaf Energy is seeking a Regional Technical Lead to join our Development Engineering team to support our solar and energy storage pipeline in New York. Our preference is that this position is based in Latham, NY, but could be based out of our Lowell, Oakland, or Chicago office for the right candidate. We offer a hybrid work environment, allowing you to work remotely 2-3 days a week and from the office 2-3 days a week. This role reports to the EVP of Engineering.

New Leaf Energy is an experienced clean energy developer that partners with landowners, policy makers, and other stakeholders to accelerate the transition to a world powered by renewable energy. We identify high-value sites, work with landowners and local communities to develop them, and partner with long-term asset owners to bring the most impactful clean energy projects to life.

About the role

New Leaf Energy embeds a Regional Technical Lead (RTL) in each of its regional development teams: a single person responsible for ensuring that the team’s projects successfully navigate technical hurdles by ensuring appropriate engineering effort and management. The RTL is one of four members of the management team for each region, joining leaders in project development, finance, and policy, who are collectively responsible for the business and economic performance of the entire pipeline and project development plan for the region. We are currently seeking a technically-oriented candidate with a strong business acumen to serve as the inaugural RTL of our newly-formed California regional team.

Overall responsibilities and contributions of the Regional Technical Lead include but are not limited to: collaborating with Regional Team members to agree upon the regional development strategy, applying an in-depth understanding of the regional pipeline and the timing of the development process to inform the sequencing and prioritization of work by the engineering teams on different projects, working with subject matter experts to problem solve across civil engineering, development engineering, and interconnection processes, and establishing dashboards to track performance relative to KPIs, and using continuous improvement methods to make our development processes consistently more efficient.

This position is an opportunity to join an outstanding company in a high-leverage role. Our ideal applicant will be a tenacious, determined, creative problem-solver, self-motivated and independent, a great communicator, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and to prioritize competing demands.

Position Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Close coordination with the Regional Project Development Manager to align as a team to work on the regional business, with a shared responsibility for developing a strategy that enables delivery of an accurate monthly forecast and executing on a plan that results in continually growing the region profitably.
  • Act as a conduit between the regional team and development engineering leadership with a focus on forecasting, process development, practical problem solving, strategic planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with engineering managers on prioritization of resources for design, permitting, and optimization across projects at all stages of development from prospecting through final plan sets.
  • Bring a project management mentality to the team and develop a cadence of accountability with regards to the monthly execution of the sales plan.
  • Establish key performance indicators and achieve goals for quality, schedule, and financial results of the regional business.
  • Help identify and diligence emerging technologies to continuously improve our valuations.
  • Identify optimization opportunities within the region from new policies and or incentive structures.
  • General business leadership and support of the region's development activities.
