San Jacinto is Hiring a Remote Director, Online Quality

Director, Online Quality - Generation Park

This position will be assigned to San Jac Online with a required physical presence at the Generation Park Campus and will support/travel to all campus locations. This is not a remote position.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ensures the exemplary quality of online courses to meet accreditation and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with instructional departments, faculty, and staff to align online instruction with the College’s academic priorities, mission, and institutional learning outcomes, including accessibility and ADA requirements. Facilitates and recommends related professional development for online faculty.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains, implements, and improves the quality review process for online courses.
  • Works with instructional leaders and faculty to ensure timely, quality review course improvement.
  • Collaborates with instructional leaders to examine links between course quality and online student success and completion.
  • Offers professional development and faculty support to ensure course excellence.
  • Mentors and evaluates faculty based on quality outcomes.
  • Produces an annual report detailing the spectrum of high-quality to low-quality online courses, including recommended improvements for courses, review processes, and faculty mentoring.
  • Maintains, implements, and improves quality review processes to maintain and enhance quality in online courses.
  • Ensures regular and substantive interaction expectations are met for online content delivery.
  • Collaborates with faculty and instructional designers to develop a framework for master courses and selection of instructional resources.
  • Ensures online practices align with THECB Principles of Good Practice, Quality Matters, and other quality standards followed by San Jac Online.
  • Ensures online courses to meet expectations for accessibility compliance through the application of universal course design (UDL).
  • Recommends technology needs to ensure academic integrity and student authentication expectations are met.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Participates in the selection of division and operations leaders and full-time faculty.
  • Serves on councils, committees, and task forces as directed; supports the department chairs and lead-faculty with their committee responsibilities.
  • Attends professional development opportunities for continuous learning in the position and improvements in the division.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate the College values.

  • Applicant must have excellent communication skills, demonstrated tactical leadership abilities and proven results.
  • Knowledge in instructional design, development, implementation, and assessments in an academic environment; instructional technology, learning theories, universal design, accessibility, and effective assessment of programs. 
  • Knowledge in the application of online instructional quality evaluation tools.
  • Skills in working collaboratively with the faculty, staff, and students at the college to evaluate and produce effective instructional materials.
  • Skill in coordinating the assignment and completion of multiple projects. 
  • Skill in providing recommendations for interface design, sequencing of instruction, use of assessments, and design of course materials and activities. 
  • Skill in providing recommendations on key issues related to the design of instructional materials including instructional copyright and accessibility. 
  • Skill in determining instructional effectiveness of course materials that are developed. 
  • Ability to perform as project lead / project manager in cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to develop analyze project progress, develop reports, and effectively communicate results. 
  • Ability to explore new technologies for potential application and innovative use at college. 
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 
  • Experience in providing professional development for faculty. 
  • Skill in communicating needs, expectations, and priorities with a diverse academic community. 
  • Ability to foster cooperative relationships with a diverse academic community. 
  • Knowledge of instructional pedagogy. 
  • Skill in integrating technology in a wide variety of instructional situations.
  • Skill in adapting to the needs of a changing program.
  • Skill in using a variety of graphics, multimedia, productivity, web-based, and social media applications.
  • Skills with online applications of the internet, interactive video, and other technologically mediated instruction.
  • Administrative experience, including ability to establish priorities and make difficult choices among competing demands and to make decisions in a consultative and informed manner.

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Preferred Education:

  • Doctorate in instructional design or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Required Experience:

  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the community college level in a related field with two years of progressive and strategic administrative experience in higher education at the community college level or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of work experience in an instructional design or academic design environment.
  • Three (3) years of full-time online instructional delivery experience at the collegiate level.

Preferred Experience:

  • Five (5) years teaching, and three years progressive leadership or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years of work experience in an instructional design or academic design environment.
  • Five (5) years of online instructional delivery experience at the collegiate level.
  • Project management experience.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

  • ACAdemic Learning certification
  • Quality Matters certification

Salary Grade: 202
