The Staff Curriculum Writer works collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop a high-quality Career and Technical Education curriculum that aligns with Arizona Technical Standards. The Staff Curriculum Writer is responsible for developing and writing the Career and Technical Education curriculum, including informational lessons, operational lessons (labs), projects, and units in alignment with Arizona Technical and Professional Standards in the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium Format.

Develop curriculum units that align with the Arizona CTE Technical and Professional Standards and Instructional Resource documents, including the Scope & Sequence and Task Analysis in the program area
Meet and work collaboratively with Content Specialists to validate lesson flow and accuracy
Write lessons, projects, units, and supporting material to specific design criteria as established by the Consortium
Adjust and revise lessons, projects, and units as recommended by the editorial team
Training and Evaluation:
Curriculum Writers are required to successfully complete a Lesson Plan Writing Training course (~ 16 hours) and produce a quality lesson plan reviewed and approved by the editorial team.
A comprehensive review of lesson writing skills will be completed with lessons 1 - 3 and unit completion thereafter using the AZCTECC Editor’s Rubric.
A 90-day review will be administered to ensure lesson and unit completion is adequately
meeting expectations.
Expectations:
Staff Curriculum Writers are an integral part of the lesson writing and curriculum development process. As such, regular, consistent, and timely completion of the lesson planning and review is critical. Curriculum Writers are expected to communicate regularly with a Content Specialist (as needed), Editor, and Director/Assistant Director to ensure timely progress of curriculum development.
Qualifications:
AZ teacher certification
Three years experience as a teacher
A strong understanding of Career and Technical Education
Completed or must complete Instructional Best Practices
Must be willing to travel statewide occasionally as needed

AZ CTE certified teacher
Knowledge of the Arizona CTE Curriculum Consortium
Participation in an AZCTECC event (Blueprint & Framework, Scope & Sequence, etc.)
Experience in curriculum development and/or lesson planning and writing
