Penn Engineering is Hiring a Remote Regional Sales Manager

SUMMARY

Works either independently or with other Heyco Sales Personnel to aggressively sell

Heyco components. Manages and develops the sales channel in an ongoing effort to maximize sales. Focuses efforts on products and/or markets as specified by the Sales Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the firm's activities in the aggressive growth and expansion of a previously specified target market and/or product.
  • Directly finds new customers, new markets and new or modified product opportunities.
  • Identifies and develops proper supply channel for targeted product/market.
  • Partners with other members of the sales staff, when appropriate, to identify, qualify, support, and close sales to new customers, especially when a complex selling situation is encountered.
  • Researches selling opportunities through all available media and contacts/companies to achieve growth in sales.
  • Develops sales leads into new customers. Qualifies leads, manages contacts, and follows up each new lead in a timely manner. Makes proactive sales calls to qualify prospective customers.
  • Works closely with the marketing department to provide input into its decision making process.
  • Gathers information regarding customers' needs and desires, as well as price levels that will succeed in target markets.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Obtains product market share by working with the Sales Manager to develop product sales strategies and channels to market.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolves complaints of customers by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, making recommendations to management and communicating the resolution to the customer.
  • Collaborates with a variety of functional areas including Engineering, Marketing, IT, and Operations to develop and provide products & services responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from trade journals, the internet and acquired market databases.
  • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Provides input into plans for future product and market development, as well as sales and promotional programs to achieve goals.
  • Provides individual or group training to customers, or fellow employees, as required.
  • Seeks new markets or applications for existing products, and product expansions that will lead to new customers or markets.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as call reports, weekly work plans and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Follows all departmental procedures to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree (preferably in Engineering or Business) with 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have excellent communication skills and be organized. Must posses a strong knowledge of product lines, procedures and policies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,

professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and employees. Second language a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid driver's license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able, without significant hindrance, to engage in the travel and related activities that the position requires. The employee must be able to reasonably engage in local travel via auto, bus or train as required and be able to engage in air travel utilizing standard economy class commercial carriers.

The employee must also maintain a personal physical appearance including grooming and attire which puts forth a positive professional image in accordance with that of the company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Anytime that the employee is in the plant, he/she is required to follow all safety rules and procedures including, but not limited to, using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Employee must also follow all established safety requirements when visiting customers.
