Position Overview:
As Procurement Manager for our Construction department, your role will involve sourcing equipment, goods, and services, as well as managing vendor relationships. You will be responsible for performing strategic procurement activities across the Construction department which includes new construction builds, departmental needs such as safety equipment, tools vehicles etc. Your role will support our Construction team’s work with the goal of finding and building relationships that reduce costs and leverage our brand and goals. This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop procurement strategies that are innovative and cost-effective. Control the procurement budget and promote a culture of long-term saving on costs.
- Act as a point of contact between the Habitat affiliate staff and suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Help in standardization of materials and products across development portfolio.
- Source and engage reliable suppliers and vendors based on project requirements. Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure great terms and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate contracts, terms with Project Management team, and schedules with vendors and suppliers.
- Work with resource development team on Gift in Kind outreach for donations from manufacturers and suppliers.
- Attend meetings with the construction, real estate development, vendors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate the procurement schedule with the project construction schedule. Control the procurement budget and promote a culture of long-term saving on costs. Monitor and update relevant departments on price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
- Work closely with the outside counsel on contract terms.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Proven sales and negotiation skills
- Ability to create and keep supplier and trade relationships
- Understanding of construction materials and supplies used in residential construction
- Knowledge of local suppliers and trades partners
- Construction material take off from plans and estimating project experience in a residential construction development setting.
- Experience in value engineering construction plans
- Understanding of local market construction costs and trends for estimating and cost analysis reporting
- Ability to create and follow a process
- 3 years minimum experience working for a homebuilder or large building supply company
- Office administration skills like data entry working in common programs like Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, etc.
- Ability to read and understand financial reports, budgets, and invoicing
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Any qualifying combination of education, certification, and experience demonstrates the ability to perform the position's duties.
- Past experience in construction purchasing or construction sales, supply and/or warehouse management
- Ability to conduct business in spoken and written Spanish.
- Understand construction build scheduling and sequencing.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Human-paced, open, team-oriented, business casual office
- This position may be eligible for remote/hybrid work based on responsibilities, performance, and access to essential work-related resources.
- The employee will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines
- This is largely a sedentary role with some filing work, which requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend, and stand on a stool as necessary
- May need to lift to 50 lbs.
Starting Wage Expectations:
Minimum salary of $69,000 to a range midpoint of $84,070. Placement will generally not exceed the midpoint based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range is $69,000 to $100,050.
