DX1 Data Specialist

DX1, a division of Dominion Enterprises, is hiring a Major Units Data Specialist in our Norfolk, VA office or remote anywhere within the US. DX1 provides DMS and Marketing Solutions for the powersports dealers with a complete dealership management platform, designed to improve dealership efficiencies across all departments by combining marketing and operational functions needed to run a dealership.

Position Summary

The DX1 Major Unit Data Specialist is responsible for not just understanding the data needs of the DX1 platform but also managing the requests of DX1 customers for new vendors and models. The Major Unit Data Specialist will work closely with the Data Manager and DX1 vendors to effectively and efficiently anticipate data releases, allocate resources and monitor customer requests. Additionally this person will need to be able to understand the DX1 data structure, data dependencies and data flows throughout the platform.

The Role of Major Unit Data Specialist

  • Prepares source data by compiling, sorting, comparing and reformatting large data files; communicates entry priorities for the data team
  • Reviews and manipulates large spreadsheets in various formats
  • Processes major unit model source documents by reviewing data for deficiencies: resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the team leader for resolution.
  • Enters major unit model data via data management toolsets
  • Maintains, communicates and reinforces data entry requirements with the team by following data program techniques and procedures.
  • Verifies entered major unit model data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data; comparing data from both OEM websites and other data resource information to ensure it is complete; purging files to eliminate duplication of data.
  • Test and verify data in the system; make changes and upgrades by inputting new data; reviewing output.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Regularly review vendor qualifications
  • Contact vendors as necessary to obtain information such as price files and model data
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Self-starter, proactive, creative, detail oriented, great verbal and written communication skills
  • Some domestic and limited international travel is required.
  • Reports to Data Manager

The Successful Major Unit Data Specialist Will Have

  • Strong written communication skills
  • Able to prioritize tasks based on specific requests and industry releases
  • Able to communicate precise instructions to remote team members
  • Anticipate and schedule teams for overtime as necessary
  • Advance planning for large projects
  • Respond to questions and resolve issues received from various teams and managers
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to work independently, clear and committed decision making with a focus on driving results
  • Ability to interact and work well within a cross-team environment
  • Ability to think ahead to forecast issues and market changes, and to resolve challenges with the business, teams, vendors, partners, and Product Managers

Additional Skills:

  • Any database experience would be a plus
  • Powersports experience preferred
