Summary:
The Field Engineer Manager, Transmission & Distribution will manage team of onsite Field Engineers to provide training, guidance, professional development, monitoring employee performance levels and oversee site performance.
Requirements:
  • Assists with Field Engineer (Full time, Intern & Co-op) recruitment (including interviewing and hiring) and manage onboarding.
  • Provides ongoing training to include but not limited to: QA/QC, POD, Equipment & Material/Subcontractor tracking.
  • Ensures that appropriate goals are set for each Field Engineer and coordinates with the applicable personnel to ensure that deliverables are timely and accurate.
  • Compiles the applicable materials used on T&D jobs for the Field Engineer Boot Camp and assists with running the meetings.
  • Compiles a directory of all the duties associated with the Field Engineer position and completes a SOP.
  • Manages growth of Field Engineers to ensure that they have the experience across the multiple scopes and are appropriately growing within the organization.
  • Coordinates with the project Directors to ensure that adequate coverage is provided for the current and future projects for the Field Engineers.
  • Supports the Project Managers, and Project Control Managers in budget and schedule preparation prior to commencement of the project.
  • Maintains tasks matrix so that all personnel are appropriately trained in their expected duties.
  • Works with the Operations, Project Management, and HSQE Managers for implementing site specific expectations.
  • Communicates weekly check ins via: In-person conversations, email interactions, site reports, meetings, and teleconferences as needed.
  • Attends project meetings related to schedule, costs, procurement, and production as needed.
  • Responsible for monitoring employee performance and implementing corrective action, training, and performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Oversees Field Engineers across multiple sites within the T&D business unit to ensure consistency across all projects.
  • Reviews and approves monthly Purchase card charges.
  • Works in coordination with the Project Engineering, Project Controls & Project Management team to build and update a POD that properly aligns with IFC design, schedule, and budget.
  • Performs quality control activities on the jobsite to ensure that work is being completed in accordance with project plans, and specifications as well as industry best practice.
  • Performs periodic checks in Procore to ensure documentation is on schedule and properly cataloged.
  • Collaborates with the Quality management team on training, monitoring, and control of inspections required of field management.
  • Provides feedback and support for daily field engineering duties.
  • Participates in site visits on a regular basis.
  • Coordinates monthly Field Engineer, and Project Engineer meetings along with Project Engineering Manager.
  • Participates in annual and mid-year reviews to ensure that Field Engineers are supporting the
  • projects and that their managers are supporting their growth.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Completes hiring manager tasks for new hires: I-9, IT equipment requests, reserve fleet truck,
  • Payroll, and other new hire onboarding tasks.
  • Coordinates with Site Manager, and Project Manager for Field Engineer coverage: rotations, PTO, site transfers (with the supporting systems of Procore, Paylocity, etc.).
  • Offers support to project team for gathering information for weekly/monthly managers/kickoff
  • meetings.
  • Troubleshoot issues, develop solutions, and implement changes as needed.
  • Procore oversight in ensuring site team is up to date on inspections, documents are saved in correct location, equipment & material trackers are current and available.
  • Participates in site safety trainings and tailgates when able.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Travels to sites as needed to ensure successful implementation of the Field Engineer duties.

Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management or equivalent or 8 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
    • 4 years of management or supervisory work required.
    • 4 years of electrical, renewable energy, and engineering, procure construct contract experience in the field required.
    • Travel 31-51% required.
    • Valid Driver’s License required.
    • Construction site safety and OSHA requirements.
    • Quality assurance processes.
    • Project/Process Management.
    • Client Relations.
    • Interpretation of scopes of work.
    • Use of computer software, including Microsoft Suite, and other proprietary systems.
    • Interpretation of a project schedule.
    • Time management, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Logistical approach to problem-solving.
    • Understanding environmental concepts.
    • Functional competencies include communication, accountability, teamwork, attention to detail, and collaboration.
Anticipated base salary range: $96,000 - $125,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
