Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Manager with a specialized focus in Mobile engineering to lead our testing efforts and ensure the quality of our products for Alkami’s financial institutions. As the SDET Manager, you will be at the helm of a team of Mobile SDETs, driving testing activities and spearheading quality assurance initiatives. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for optimizing testing processes, you will play a pivotal role in formulating effective testing strategies, devising comprehensive test plans, and managing testing resources efficiently. Your deep technical expertise will enable you to design innovative test solutions, including automation frameworks and custom tools, that elevate testing efficiency, reliability, and scalability to new heights. Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage a team of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) to ensure the delivery of high-quality products that exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead strategic testing related initiatives and projects, providing critical insights and direction to elevate the overall Quality landscape.
  • Drive release activities within the team, ensuring a high-confidence release signoff.
  • Responsible for ensuring manual and automation test coverages, overseeing the execution of feature, regression, and UAT testing to meet product requirements.
  • Proactively communicate updates and assume responsibility for delivering quality metric reports to leadership. Leverage data from the reports to identify quality gaps and implement strategic actions to enhance and optimize test processes.
  • Own testing frameworks, tools, and infrastructure for SDET test executions.
  • Apply industry testing best practices within the team to enhance testing effectiveness.
  • Execute the team's test strategies and plans, ensuring alignment with methodology, resource requirements, and project schedules.
  • Work collaboratively with development teams to seamlessly integrate testing activities into the overall development lifecycle.
  • Be responsible and accountable for test reports, analyze quality metrics, and drive continuous improvements based on root cause analysis.
  • Assess the performance of team members, provide recommendations, and follow up on individual career development plans.
  • Help drive a quality culture and operational efficiency within the team, collaborating with cross-team stakeholders.
  • Promote Alkami's leadership principles and assist team members in setting goals, incorporating leadership concepts into their daily work.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years as an engineer, 3 years as people manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to provide feedback, grow, hire and retain talented SDET engineers.
  • Expertise in one or more object-oriented languages, encompassing data structures, design patterns, system architecture, etc., with a proficiency in programming languages like C#, Java, Python, JS, or similar. Familiarity with Terraform, Shell scripting, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Seasoned professional adept at constructing, maintaining, and enhancing test automation frameworks using industry best practices, including the page-object model, data-driven frameworks, and behavioral-driven development. Proficient with Mobile testing frameworks like Appium, Kotlin, XCTest, Android Studio, XCode.
  • Expertise in establishing automated CI/CD with Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity, etc with mobile device farms like Saucelabs, BrowserStack.
  • Working knowledge of both relational databases (e.g., SQL, Postgres) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB), with the ability to write complex queries and validate data integrity.
  • Proficient in crafting test strategies, test plans, and automation strategies encompassing various test types, including Smoke, Functional, Regression testing, etc., utilizing diverse test case optimization techniques. Working knowledge of Agile/DevOps development methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience in administering test management tools and creating custom configurations. Proficient in identifying and implementing changes to fill metric gaps, with the ability to collate data from diverse sources to create a high-level picture.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable presenting quality initiatives, metrics, and updates to executive leadership and large audiences.

Desired Skills:

  • Master degree in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide team members towards successful project outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture and software design concepts, be able to effectively communicate with developers, SRE, Ops.
  • Understanding performance testing methodologies and tools, including understanding performance metrics.
  • Experience with Web and Backend API Services testing
  • Experience other testing frameworks such as JUnit, NUnit, TestNG, Pytest, or Cucumber; open source like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright for Web testing, Appium, Espresso for Mobile testing, and RestAssured, HttpClient for API testing. Comprehensive understanding of various API architectures such as REST, GraphQL, Webhooks, WCF, and gRPC protocols. Familiarity with UI architectures/concepts like Micro frontend, single-page applications, etc.
  • Experience working with Kubernetes and Cloud Native Infrastructure.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure/Google Cloud.
