Position

180 Degrees, a Human Services Non Profit, is seeking an Accounting Specialist who loves variety to join our Finance Department. Under the direction of the Senior Accountant, this position is responsible for administering key finance and accounting functions in a primarily clerical role. This position plays a critical part on the finance team managing period-end closing procedures such as prepare, review, reconcile and issue invoices and bills. 

Accountant Responsibilities

1. Process Accounts Payable (A/P)weekly.

• Verify data entry and coding are accurate to proper grants.
• Receive process invoices, secure appropriate approvals, and code to appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Enter and process A/P invoice. 
• Prepare, print and mail checks as needed.
• Maintain A/P filing system for accurate documentation. 
• Review monthly statements and perform account reconciliation to ensure all accounts are current.
• Communicate with vendors for necessary information. 

1. Support the Finance Department in Accounts Receivable (A/R). 

• Prepare journal entries and A/R reports as required. 
• Assist with input process and maintenance of the the A/R accounting function inclusive of working with a variety of funding source.
• Make bank deposits when necessary. 

1. Support the CFO and Senior Accountant in additional financial responsibilities and pulling reports for financial audits.

Non Profit Location

This role is a hybrid position on our Finance team including work-from-home and in-person. The position will start in-person for the training probationary period, and shift to remote two days a week when the individual is ready. The in-person work will be out of our St. Paul office. 

Accountant Competencies: 

• Experience in grant accounting or nonprofit is a plus.
• Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and excel needed. 
• Minimum age: 21 required 
• Bachelor’s or Associates in accounting, finance, or related field preferred 
• Two years’ experience in accounting related tasks preferred 
• Ability to keep accurate records. 

• Dependable transportation for in-person work; reliable internet and phone connection for remote hours.

• Ability to clear a Department of Human Services background screening required.
• Lived experience in place of certain credentials will be considered for all positions.
