Title: Manager, Product Development
Reporting to: Executive Vice President, Product Development, Worldwide Services & Air Operations
Overview:
This position will manage a product line of 12 to 14 tour programs globally. The Product Manager will negotiate all tour components that adhere to the company’s mission to offer guests an exceptional value and an excellent travel experience. The candidate will work in a department that is collaborative, professional, and fast-paced.
Responsibilities:

• Successfully manage 12 to 14 tour series
• Effectively negotiate contracts for tour components (excluding air contracts)
• Foster excellent supplier long-term relationships
• Maintain a travel schedule of 5 – 7 trips per year (approximately 70 travel days)
• Maintain and enhance tour (s) with respect to profitability and quality parameters
• Achieve guest satisfaction levels in accordance with the company’s quality goals
• Manage inventory procurement for assigned tours
• Deliver all detailed budget and costing requirements of assigned tours
• Ensure product cost components are finalized per marketing schedule
• Support product coordinators in providing complete, timely operating turnover
• Ensure catalog copy and pre-departure day by days are accurate
• Maintain thorough awareness of competitor products and pricing
• Respond in a timely fashion to unplanned/unpredictable problems and crises that may arise
• Work with Odysseys’ Worldwide team to resolve on-tour needs and with Operations with supplier needs
• Support Worldwide with sourcing excellent tour director candidates
• Participate in company product presentation and support sales/services with tour questions
• As required, research and design new product
• Provide departmental and company back up as needed

Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 10 years of travel industry experience (preferably with destination expertise)
• Expertise in the areas of supplier negotiations and relationship building
• Superior planning and organizational skills with an orientation to detail
• Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced, timeline-oriented environment
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and the impact of worldwide events
• Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to represent the company effectively to a variety of audiences
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team of international colleagues
• Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
