Team Member Experience Coordinator

PI: Dr. Stephen Freedland

The Institute for Medical Research (IMR), an affiliate of the Durham VA Health Care System (DVAHCS) is looking for a full-time Team Member Experience Coordinator to oversee team culture development for Principal Investigator, Dr. Stephen Freedland, and his associates in his urology and oncology research lab. This position will focus on the organization’s overall structure, coordination, strategic growth planning strategies, programs, advancements, and retention.

Location: This position is hybrid. This position is located in Durham, North Carolina and candidates must be willing to relocate prior to start date.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Culture Development & Event Coordination:

  • Develop programs and initiatives to promote continued education and collaboration among employees.
  • Establish and oversee committee for office quality improvement.
  • Liaise with the administrative team to oversee planning, scheduling, and organization of Principal Investigator visits and functional team meetings.
  • Serve as team facilitator by leading learning and team building initiatives including, but not limited to, team activities, social events, book club, journal club, whole health, etc.
  • Support, advise, and guide team leads in strategic growth questions and decision making.
  • Maintain annual calendar that recognizes key days, months, events, and moments of significance and facilitate communication and recognition across the team.
  • Create learning opportunities and lead forums for open dialogue regarding areas for team improvement.

Networking and Outreach:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with a solid network of educators, students, industry partners to provide continuing education opportunities for the team.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend external facilitators, partners, and presenters.

Maintain documentation of metrics and outcomes:

  • Design, deploy, and evaluate effective and efficient engagement surveys to determine employee needs as it relates to the research team. Develop and execute action plans to improve results.
  • Compile statistics, metrics, and reports to assess the progress and effectiveness of educational and team building initiatives.
  • Track, report, and evaluate team-led programs for participation and effectiveness; make recommendations to improve offerings.
  • Share data and analytic reports with management team.

Freedland Team Candidate Recruitment:

  • Assist in candidate recruitment, interviewing, and hiring, as needed.
  • Represent the research team at local career fairs and prepare materials to attract diverse, motivated, and enthusiastic candidates.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, psychology, or other relevant field, and a minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires an organized, task oriented, deadline-sensitive individual

Additional Requirements:

  • Exceptional program management and organizational skills, with above average attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency in creating high quality PowerPoint presentations and other presenter materials.
  • Highly collaborative; seeks diversity of ideas.
  • Team member-centric mentality.
  • Requires a familiarity with corporate etiquette and events.
  • Ability to handle challenging discussions.
  • A talent for connecting concepts and skills to team member roles.
  • Ability to synthesize/summarize key points in a discussion.
  • Skilled at balancing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have the ability to travel when required, up to 10%.

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements and activities that are required to perform the essential functions of the position include, but may not be limited to, as follows: Must be able to occasionally lift, pull and push a minimum of 40 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, sit for extended periods of time, squat, kneel, and stoop, regularly use fingers, hands for computer work.

Supervisory Controls: The position of Team Member Experience Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Research Manager.

Salary Range:$51,300 - $65,000 per year

Status:Non-Exempt

Start Date: Expected start date will be 4- 6 weeks after the offer but is somewhat flexible and contingent upon completion and approval of VA paperwork.
