General Position Description

The SBA Portfolio Leader will work in the Consulting Department in support of a contract with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to perform Lender Oversight Reviews. The SBA Portfolio Manager provides technical expertise to a team of loan file reviewers responsible for commercial loan file review of various SBA Lenders in support of SBA’s 7(a) Guaranteed Loan Program. The SBA Portfolio Leader must successfully complete a background check and obtain an SBA security clearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the performance of commercial loan file reviews in accordance with standard due diligence techniques to determine compliance with SBA 7(a) loan requirements.
  • Responsible for overall quality of SBA 7(a) loan review work and reporting.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to loan file reviewers on SBA 7(a) program requirements.
  • Review the work of Quality Control Reviewers.
  • Review draft reports for accuracy of technical content and make appropriate edits to ensure compliance with reporting Style Guide.
  • Coordinate with Deputy Project Manager and subcontractor point of contact to ensure delivery of timely and accurate reports to SBA.
  • Manage project team activities to ensure quality service delivery and attainment of performance metrics.
  • Lead weekly status meetings with SBA client to discuss performance, and review weekly status reports prior to submission.

Required Experience:

  • 7 or more years of related work experience including at least 5 years of experience reviewing commercial loan activities in accordance with standard due diligence techniques at regulatory/federal agencies, financial institutions or similar organizations and 5 years of project management experience managing commercial loan activities review
  • Proficient knowledge of SBA 7(a) Loan Program Requirements (SOP) regarding loan application, underwriting, closing, servicing, liquidation and litigation; and commercial lending and credit processes
  • Must be able to deal effectively and communicate with individuals at all levels
  • Experience in policy and procedure development, implementation, and review is required
  • Demonstrated success managing projects of similar size and complexity
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint applications
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn and use various cloud-based software applications
  • Organized individual with excellent attention to detail
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Prior SBA 7(a) Loan Program experience required

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Other Requirements:

The SBA Portfolio Leader will report to the Project Manager. The SBA Portfolio Leader is expected to perform assignments with minimal supervision where procedures have been established, know when to consult with the Team on complex tasks or contractual matters, and refer to SBA regulations, contract requirements, and other written directives as necessary.

Other Requirements:

The Portfolio Leader must successfully complete a background check and obtain a SBA security clearance.

Additional Information:

  • FLSA Class: Salary- Exempt
  • Status: Full Time - Regular
  • Work Week: Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day, some evening and weekend hours may be required in order to fulfill client expectations and deliverables.
