RGA is Hiring a Remote Vice President Global Modeling

Position Overview

This role manages and directs the technical design of the end-to-end reporting process for all Global Valuation teams while developing a vision to incorporate current technology to make the reporting process more efficient and scalable in order to meet the needs of the corporate stakeholders and business users. The role should be identified as an industry expert in general modeling best practices as well as in open-ended actuarial software, specifically FIS Prophet, with the ability to consult, train and mentor other modelers in all aspects of FIS Prophet and FIS’ complementary products. The role will contribute to the advancement of the platform through developing Proof of Concepts (POCs) and through recommending and testing new technology.

This role is open to remote candidates.


Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs the technical design of the end-to-end reporting process for all Global Valuation business segments.
  • Serves as an internal consultant to help various traditional and non-traditional groups solve and implement solutions to issues valuation departments are facing today.
  • Has broad and comprehensive understanding of upcoming industry-wide changes such as PBR, IFRS, and GAAP targeted changes; accountable for recommendation of and overseeing actuarial modeling refinements to reflect these and others as regulatory environment continues to evolve.
  • Possesses awareness of most areas of life, health, long term care, deferred annuities, payout annuities, longevity swaps, and reinsurance valuation and uses knowledge in implementing processes. Can apply knowledge to complex business problems to support the Traditional and Non-Traditional business
  • Ability to negotiate with and communicate across departments including IT, country- and product-specific valuation teams, corporate modeling, global RD&A, and others.
  • Develop, build and maintain relationships with model stewards and/or decision makers across the industry, consultants and venders to ensure RGA’s models are following best practices.
  • Regarded as an industry technical expert related to actuarial modeling and serves as a global Prophet expert for RGA.
  • Contributes to standardization of reporting processes globally including but not limited to: PBI, PLAN, CFT, end-user reporting and management reporting.
  • Engages and consults with local Valuation teams to promote internal operational efficiency and effectiveness through leading development and implementation of vision for end-to-end processes.
  • Evaluates or designs proof of concepts with goal of increasing the department’s knowledge base and recommends potential uses within a valuation department.
  • Serves on industry working groups involving actuarial software and technology such as the SOA Modeling and Technology sections; represents RGA on FIS Prophet industry user groups.
  • Ability to provide direction to teams consisting of actuarial, IT, and business analyst resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics or related field
  • FSA accreditation or equivalent
  • 10 years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
  • 5 years of experience with data-driven solutions in insurance
  • Advanced actuarial modeling skills in open platforms such as Prophet or MoSes
  • Advanced database and programming knowledge
  • Stochastic modeling and/or asset liability management experience
  • Familiarity with traditional life, LTC, deferred annuities, including fixed, equity-indexed and/or variable annuities, pensions and other longevity products.
  • Familiarity with fixed income investments, understanding of asset modeling techniques and capital markets.
  • Familiarity with most Prophet Libraries including Asset Liability Strategy (ALS), US Life and Annuity 360 and US GAAP Cohort Library
  • Advanced knowledge of FIS’ family of complementary products

Preferred:

  • MAAA accreditation
  • CFA, PRMIA PRM, GARP FRM, or other such financial risk management designation
  • Prior management experience
  • Expert knowledge of local regulatory environments
  • Reinsurance industry and/or merger and acquisition experience

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market, a candidate’s skills, and experience commensurate with a role, etc. salary range: $188,345 - $287,000 bonus.
