Analyst I - Information Security
Position Overview: The Analyst I - Information Security role within our Threat Detection & Response team is pivotal to maintaining the integrity and security of the Windstream environment. This entry-level position is designed for individuals with a foundational understanding of IT security principles, eager to apply their knowledge in a dynamic security operation setting. The Analyst I is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity incidents, ensuring the robust defense of Windstream's networks, servers, and workstations against potential threats.
Job Functions:
Vigilant monitoring of events through Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, and other ticketing portals to identify anomalous activities. Employing SIEM, behavioral analytics, and network analysis tools to detect and respond to incidents affecting workstations, servers, and network infrastructure. Analyzing a diverse set of log files (e.g., host logs, network traffic logs, firewall logs, IDS logs) to pinpoint potential security threats. Applying knowledge of IT security principles, techniques, and technologies to safeguard network security. Understanding and leveraging network protocols, devices, various operating systems, and secure architectures to enhance security posture. Organizing and executing response actions to mitigate the impact of cybersecurity incidents efficiently. Formally documenting and tracking identified incidents from detection through resolution in alignment with Windstream's Cyber Security policy. Conducting threat detection and incident handling by utilizing security best practices and current technological platforms. Classifying and prioritizing threats based on cyber threat intelligence and the capabilities of deployed security infrastructures like IDS, firewalls, and security incident management tools. Supporting evidence collection for compliance with PCI-DSS, SOX, and other regulatory requirements. Participating in offensive and defensive cybersecurity exercises, including Red/Blue team activities and tabletop exercises. Adapting to a 24x7 support schedule to ensure continuous security monitoring and response.

Required Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with packet flow, TCP/UDP traffic, firewall, security event and incident management (SIEM), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Internet Web Proxy, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Email Gateway (SEG), Unix / Windows Administration. Strong foundational knowledge in IT Security principles, techniques, and technologies. Understanding of network protocols, devices, multiple operating systems, and secure architectures. Excellent analytical, problem-solving abilities, and a quick learner of new technologies.
Demonstrated capability in process execution, time management, and organizational skills.

Education and Experience: College degree in a Technical or related field and 0-2 years professional level experience; or 4 years professional level related Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level Technical experience required.

Actual base pay for this job will depend on the candidate's primary work location and other factors, such as relevant skills and experience The starting compensation range for this job is 53,600 to 67,500
