Job Description

An Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of small to medium complexity projects which may contain a technical or software implementation component. This includes all project phases (planning, executing, controlling, and closing). They are also responsible for accurately assessing the progress of the project and controlling any issues that arise. They drive successful completion of an assigned project - on time and within budget, assuring the solution aligns with and meets the business objective. They will serve as a focal point for communications between the project team, Program Management, Business Owner, and Executive Sponsor. They may also be responsible for assisting a Project Manager on larger, more complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and project management methodologies to plan, monitor, and implement projects so that they will complete on time and within budget assuring the solution aligns with / meets the business and stakeholder objective. 25%
  • With the Business Owner, serve as a key point of contact for the project providing effective and timely project communications to the project team and key stakeholders, including project status reports and other required reporting. 20%
  • Works with project team members to coordinate and monitor progress against project plan. 15%
  • Works with impacted Business Units to ensure a quality implementation of project deliverables (technology, training, documentation, etc.) and that the new solution is adopted, and new process control procedures are in place. Reviews project work products/deliverables to assure results align with the methodology/support the project objectives. 10%
  • Request appropriate resources based on required skill sets. Ensure resource managers are aware of the level of commitment required of team members. 10%
  • Evaluate changes in scope, risk, and schedule, assess impact on project plan, and coordinate recommendations to the leadership team for adjustments in the project scheduled/budget. 5%
  • Work with Procurement as required. 5%
  • Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with technical and functional teams external to the project to ensure their tasks are completed as required. 5%
  • Keeps up-to-date and educated in skills related to all project management and ensures this information is disseminated throughout the process. Educates team members in project management principles, methods, processes and tools and provides input to team members' performance appraisal process. 5%

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's Degree or pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Information Technology or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • 1 year of working experience on projects that impact a cross functional organization.
  • Experience participating in systems integration projects through an entire lifecycle.
  • Experience working with agile teams.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURES

  • PMP Certified or intent to certify preferred. CAPM and / or CSM certification is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to be an indirect leader and influence change at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to technical and functional resources as well as executive level stakeholders.
  • Ability to enter data into project documentation templates such as Scope Statement, Change Requests, Project Schedule, Status Reports, etc.
  • Ability to learn new products, develop functional knowledge and apply new skills.
  • Basic knowledge of technical architectures, data integration, and software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and lead a small to medium complexity project leveraging project management methodology.
  • Demonstrate skill running effective meetings and getting buy-in and participation from all team members.
  • Effective working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
  • Experience leading both functional and technical teams.
  • Facilitate governance, project reviews, steering, and other project related meetings.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Process Management, Financial Management/Analysis concepts a plus.
  • Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service.
  • Understanding of project scheduling, risk mitigation, issue resolution and their application.
  • Working knowledge of product and project management.
  • Working knowledge of the Project Management Methodologies.

DECISION MAKING

  • Makes decisions regarding schedule and cost performance, issue impact, problem resolution, prioritization, and action with support from Business Owner, Executive Sponsor, and Management.

Additional Information

Annual Base Salary: $59,600 - $70,000

Position is eligible for bonus/variable compensation

The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
