About Our Job Who We Are The Office of the Clerk and Recorder serves Denver residents through 3 divisions: the Records and Public Trustee Division, the Elections Division and Administration, and is involved in state and local law and rulemaking for all of the functions under its purview. Through these functions, our office is part of some of the most important parts of Denverite’s lives: getting married, owning property, and having a say in their government. The City and County of Denver's Elections Division (DED) is seeking an accomplished elections professional to serve as the Constituent Services Lead Assistant and perform lead work in the functional area of Constituent Services, which includes providing information to the public as well as supporting voter registration and ballot services activities. Office hours are 8:00AM – 5:00PM, in-person three (3) days a week and remote two (2) days a week during the off season; flexible schedule options are available with manager approval. During the election season the employee will work mostly in-person from 8:00AM – 5:00PM. Overtime is required during the election cycle. What You’ll Do The Denver Elections Division is currently seeking an eager and dedicated individual to serve as the Constituent Services Lead Assistant. This position will primarily support our voter-centric service delivery by supervising and training constituent services staff (working at the Front Counter and in the Elections Call Center) in registering and processing voters in the statewide system as well as ballot issuance and processing; the position also provides information to the staff and public regarding election procedures and regulations. The Constituent Services Lead Assistant will also: Supervise and resolve problems with elections staff assigned to support accessible ballot programs (such as the confined voting program, group residential facility voting, and military and overseas citizens program). Provide work instruction for Voter Services elections staff; assign, distribute and monitor work; review work for accuracy and completeness, and return assignments with recommendations for proper completion Consult with managers and stakeholders to determine if training and constituent service programs are meeting the needs of the agency Resolve problems encountered during daily operations of the work area and recommend consistent standards for problem resolution Act as a subject matter expert in elections by continuously reviewing Colorado election laws to accurately inform and instruct the general public and internal staff Support the processing of voter registration forms and tasks, as needed. Document situations which may be cause for disciplinary action and provide the information to the Voter Services Manager Provide recommendations for staffing needed to perform constituent services functions during various phases of the election cycle Oversee the appropriate storage and accountability of voter registration documents and provide input into long-term records storage About You What You’ll Bring Our ideal candidate will have: At least one year of experience working with elections Experience using SCORE (Colorado’s Statewide Voter Registration Database) Knowledge of election laws, statutes, processes and procedures Data entry experience with a high attention to detail Excellent phone, presentation, and public speaking skills Training and lead/supervisory experience Required Minimum Qualifications We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of office support experience, including two years at the type and level of an Elections Technician. Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
