Job Overview

Davies Claims North America is looking for an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) for the Workers Compensation and Property and Casualty Division to oversee the efficient and effective management of property and casualty claims operations. Reporting to the President of WC/P&C TPA, you will lead a team of claims professionals, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, drive continuous initiatives, and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.

To be successful in this role, you need to possess high level attention to detail and problem-solving skills, superb communication skills, verbal and written, conducted in a timely manner, and be proactive, independent, and take initiative with consistent follow through. You must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, risk management, or another related field, as well as 7 years of progressive experience in property and casualty claims management and 2 years in a leadership role. Additionally, you will need to display a comfort level working with key people at all levels within an organization, be a team player with superior interpersonal skills, and demonstrate an exceptional capability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent organization and documentation skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. This role is a full-time, home- or hybrid-based position with some travel required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Property and Casualty claims team
  • Train, mentor, and develop claims professionals
  • Foster a positive and high-performing work culture
  • Oversee the end-to-end claims process, including intake, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of Property and Casualty claims
  • Ensure timely and accurate claims handling in compliance with client policies, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines
  • Implement best claims practices to optimize claims efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate with internal departments, external partners, and clients to address complex claims issues and achieve mutual goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and insurers
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure claims performance and productivity
  • Analyze claims data, identify trends, and provide insights to inform decision-making and process improvements
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management and stakeholders
  • Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to Property and Casualty claims handling
  • Mitigate risks associated with claims management through proactive measures and compliance initiatives

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • 7 years of progressive experience in property and casualty claims management
  • 2 years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of effectively managing complex property claims, such as those involving natural disasters, fire damage, theft, and vandalism
  • Display a strong knowledge of insurance policies, coverage limitations, and exclusions
  • Demonstrate experience in team leadership,
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Master’s degree
  • Professional certifications and/or designations such as CPCU, AIC, and AIM

Essential Requirements

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands

This is a home- or hybrid-based, full time, salaried, exempt position that predominantly operates remotely from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary.
