Progress Lighting LLC is Hiring a Customs Compliance Analyst Near Greenville, SC

Description

Progress Lighting is an industry-leader in residential lighting and ceiling fan products with a focus on whole-home solutions. Key market segments include home builders, lighting showrooms, retail home centers, ecommerce, and lighting specifiers.

The Customs Compliance Analyst will support the import and export compliance needs of Progress Lighting, such as answering broker requests, classifying items according to Harmonized Tariff, researching import and export requirements such as Partner Government Agency restrictions, coordinating timely shipment clearance, and auditing entries. The analyst will work together with the logistics teams both in the US and overseas, as well as Progress’s designated customs broker to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee regulatory compliance abiding by U.S. Customs laws, legal regulations and requirements, and communicating professionally with internal teams, suppliers, external partners and occasionally U.S. Customs (CBP)
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance in the following areas: Anti-boycott/Restrictive Trade Practices, export Control Classification, Export Licensing, Compliance training, Export Documentation, Tariff Classification, Customs Valuation, Duty Drawback, Reconciliation, recordkeeping, Preference Programs/FTAs, and customs clearance
  • Generate shipping documents such as commercial invoice, BOL and packing list
  • Conduct audits to assess the export/import compliance of client and supporting operating entities. Assist in determining and implementing corrective actions where necessary
  • Gather and provide detailed analysis and information which may financially impact sourcing decisions
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and evaluate current processes and recommend relevant changes or improvements to increase efficiency/productivity

Skills and Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred or comparable background in customs compliance or compliance auditing
  • Strong digital literacy (Microsoft products, i.e., Excel, Access, etc.) and data analysis is needed
  • Familiarity with TMS systems and SAP strongly preferred
