Description

Job Title: Student Services Employment Specialist

Overview:

Advanced Employment Group is seeking a dynamic and empathetic individual to join our team as a Student Services Employment Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to students in their career development journey, with a focus on securing meaningful employment opportunities. You will work closely with students, faculty, and employers to bridge the gap between education and the workforce, ensuring students are equipped with the skills and resources necessary to succeed in their chosen career paths.

Hourly Rate: $25 bonus structure

Employment Type: Full time/Part time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Career Counseling: Provide individualized career counseling to students, including assessment of skills, interests, and career goals. Assist students in developing career plans and exploring various employment opportunities aligned with their aspirations.
  • Job Placement: Facilitate job placement for students by cultivating relationships with employers and identifying internship, part-time, and full-time job opportunities. Coordinate job fairs, networking events, and employer panels to connect students with potential employers.
  • Resume and Cover Letter Assistance: Offer guidance and feedback to students on crafting effective resumes, cover letters, and other application materials. Help students tailor their documents to specific job opportunities and industries.
  • Interview Preparation: Conduct mock interviews and provide interview coaching to students to enhance their interview skills and confidence. Offer feedback on interview performance and assist students in articulating their qualifications and experiences.
  • Resource Management: Maintain a comprehensive database of job postings, internship opportunities, and career resources. Stay informed about industry trends, labor market demands, and emerging career fields to better advise students on career pathways.
  • Student Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for students in navigating the job search process and addressing any barriers or challenges they may encounter. Offer support and encouragement to students throughout their job search journey.
  • Data Tracking and Reporting: Track student employment outcomes and maintain accurate records of job placements, internship experiences, and career development activities. Generate reports to assess the effectiveness of student services and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred) Special Education degree or experience is beneficial.
  • Experience working with young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required at time of and for duration of employment.
  • Background screening and drug testing required.
  • Travel STATEWIDE with use of personal vehicle. (MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT PROVIDED)
  • Strong verbal and communication skills.
  • MUST have a home computer or tablet, smartphone and reliable internet.
  • Advocacy, counseling, job coaching skills.
  • Proficient using computer software as a work tool, including MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, and Google Meets
