Job Description

Job Description
The primary objective of the Buyer/Planner is planning and maintaining a material procurement process which establishes and achieves the least total cost, best quality, and timely delivery for material purchases from domestic and international suppliers to ensure customer needs are satisfied.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Raise purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of components in line with materials and production planning requirements.
  • Maintain an uninterrupted flow of materials which includes raw materials, components, sub-components, and services from internal, domestic, and international suppliers.
  • Continuously work to identify, notify, and manage potential shortages/backorders by planning and expediting internally and externally.
  • Coordinate all planning and scheduling activities to achieve customer delivery requirements.
  • Expedite, reschedule or cancel open purchase orders to suit unforeseen customer requirements/changes by negotiating with suppliers to minimize impact on inventory holding.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders for all incoming materials from overseas suppliers and maintain in-transit report for accurate online information for Customer Service.
  • Manage inventory levels to achieve balance between customer service and working capital (over stock v/s stock outs).
  • Liaise with field and internal staff in relation to purchasing requests and keep them informed on technical details, price and availability.
  • Support management team with all required reporting of data analysis and prepare reports, in clear and concise communication methods.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Role Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years minimum Industrial Purchasing experience
  • Experience with ERP systems such as M3, SAP or Oracle
  • Previous Hydraulics experience preferred
  • Broad distribution/manufacturing knowledge
  • Experience negotiating supply priorities of raw materials
  • Understanding of freight forwarding processes including custom clearances
Skills
  • Advanced communication skills, verbal and written
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel
  • Ability to multi-task and handle competing deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Follow Safety standards and comply with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization
  • Participate in the Total Continuous Improvement program
  • Attend all employee Safety Meetings
  • Use prescribed Personal Protective Equipment
  • Observe restricted areas and all warning signs
