RUBBERCRAFT CORP OF CALIFORNIA LTD is Hiring a NPI Engineering Technician Near Long Beach, CA

IPS - Rubbercraft is seeking an NPI Engineering Technician who supports the New Production Integration (NPI) Engineering Function on a variety of technical tasks in order to meet departmental objectives. Will also be responsible for overall development and production of the NPI department. This role will work closely with the NPI leadership team, engineering and quality to ensure alignemnet to Rubbercraft directives and initiatives. This position works in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, utilizes knowledge of lean manufacturing practices to deliver world class results in efficiency, quality and productivity.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Skilled in handling highly malleable elastomeric materials
  • Skilled in the lay-up and precision placement of malleable elastomeric materials, often times working in small/narrow cavities with tight tolerance requirements
  • Skilled hand layup with precision accuracy of dissimilar materials. Understands the relationship between elastomer, dry fabrics, pre-impregnated fabric, resin, metal inserts, etc. and able to successfully combine elements to make reinforced seals
  • Attention to detail and be able to document the process and/or work with engineering to accurately generate work instructions
  • Comfortable working on multiple jobs/tools throughout the course of a day and be able to maintain acceptable part quality while multitasking
  • Use hand tools, measurement devices and equipment to perform the job
  • Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing of a sometimes increasing complexity
  • Participates in building prototypes per engineer’s specifications to ensure feasibility
  • Performs testing and qualifications in support of departmental objectives
  • Support engineering in developing fixtures and jigs for testing seals
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR
  • Maintain proper part identification and traceability
  • Maintain and care for tools, molds, machines and equipment. Use tools for their intended purposes.
  • Maintain the order and cleanliness of production work areas, ensuring that all tools, materials and supplies are returned to their designated locations
  • Other duties and responsibilities as directed

Job Specifications:


Education & Experience:

  • Associates degree or higher preferred; High School education or GED required
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with rubber and molds
  • Experience in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment
  • 2 years working in elastomeric extrusion environment preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and planning skills
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies and processes
  • Understanding of safety and EHS procedures


Physical Requirements:

  • Detailed hand-eye coordination
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. box or equipment


Training Requirements:

  • On the job training will be conducted on Procedures and Work Instructions from the area of responsibility.
  • Yearly refresher training on FOD, Calibration, Documentation control and Safety Topics.
