Professional Therapy Partners is Hiring a Director Athletic Training Near Santa Fe, NM

Position Summary:
The Director of Athletic Training (DAT) is a key leadership position within our organization. The DAT is responsible for providing coverage for athletic events along with facilitating, overseeing, and managing the athletic training department staff who will provide medical care and injury prevention programs to athletes. The DAT will practice within the parameters of the New Mexico Athletic Trainer Practice Act as laid out by the New Mexico Athletic Trainers Practice Board and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. These duties are based on the needs of school athletic programs along with any other athletes that we provide service to. The Director of Operations, as necessary and through collaboration with the DAT, shall modify duties as necessary.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Establish an effective, comprehensive athletic training program to include providing services to collegiate, high school and middle school athletic programs, club teams, industrial settings, hosting of camps and any other setting with opportunity and necessity for athletic trainers to provide service.
  • Build and maintain quality relationships with schools, sports organizations, medical professionals, hospitals, clinics and within the community for referrals and collaborative care.
  • Performance, oversight, and monitoring of the provision of athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Hire, lead, and directly supervise a team of athletic trainers, providing guidance, support and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure athletic training staff are trained, certified and up to date on best practices in athletic training.
  • Ensure quality assurance and compliance by monitoring the progress of injured athletes by ensuring they are receiving the appropriate care and treatment.
  • Monitor staff as they work in close collaboration with team physicians and other medical professionals to ensure comprehensiveness and quality of services.
  • Create schedules and assign responsibilities to staff based on the needs of the service areas.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures related to athletic training and sports medicine, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical and company standards.
  • Establish protocols for emergency situations and ensure all staff are trained and able to execute them.
  • Ensure maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress. Filing of all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in sports medicine, attend relevant workshops or conferences and incorporate evidence-based practices into the treatment and prevention of injuries into athlete care. Share professional literature relevant to athletic training with the athletic training department staff.
  • Coordinate with school athletic programs to offer annual required athletic physicals and supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sport seasons.
  • Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training department and ensure maintenance of an up-to-date inventory. Provide the Director of Operations with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Maintain current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
  • Maintain current state licensure in accordance with the New Mexico Athletic Trainers Practice Board.
  • Maintain current certification in BLS/CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care.
  • May perform other tasks as assigned.
