Purpose of the Role: The Respite Technician is responsible for providing short-term care and supervision to children and adults with disabilities at Ripple Effects Community Inclusion Center. This role focuses on ensuring a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for individuals during respite sessions, allowing caregivers to take necessary breaks.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Care and Supervision:
a) Provide attentive care and supervision to individuals during center-based respite sessions.
b) Offer individuals choices of activities and encourage engagement.
c) Ensure the safety, wellbeing and rights of the individual.
2) Activity Facilitation:
a) Plan and implement activities that are enjoyable and suited to the needs of individuals.
b) Encourage participation and social interaction among individuals during respite sessions.
3) Communication and Collaboration:
a) Effectively communicate with caregivers regarding individuals' needs, preferences, and any concerns.
b) Collaborate with other staff to ensure a cohesive and nurturing environment.
4) Behavioral Support:
a) Understand and apply behavioral strategies as needed, consistent with individuals' care plans.
b) Manage and respond to challenging behaviors in a positive and supportive manner.
5) Documentation and Record Keeping:
a) Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals’ activities, behaviors, and progress.
b) Report any incidents or concerns to the Program Director in a timely manner.
Requirements:
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.20 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
