Description

The Gilchrist Law Firm has a great job opportunity to work with the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Western District of Kentucky as a Healthcare Fraud Investigator to work on criminal and civil (parallel) health care fraud investigations.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Collaborate with AUSAs (Assistant United States Attorneys) to develop and execute investigative plans, ensuring goals are clearly defined and met.
  • Analyze applicable criminal law with AUSAs and/or supervisory attorneys to identify potential violations or causes of action.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant federal, state, or local laws to inform investigative strategy and scope.
  • Determine the evidence needed to establish legal responsibility for litigation and devise effective methods to obtain, preserve, and present that evidence.
  • Assist AUSAs in planning, scheduling, and conducting investigations, while identifying and coordinating necessary resources.
  • Conduct financial and audit investigations involving individuals or entities with complex operations, often extending beyond the local area.
  • Examine financial records, including books, computer data, and other related materials, reconstructing incomplete or inadequate records as required for investigation.
  • Obtain evidence by interviewing employees, business associates, and other key persons connected to the investigation.
  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate audit reports, compiling and analyzing the data obtained, and creating detailed charts and schedules as necessary.
  • Assist AUSAs in conducting interviews and conferences with various stakeholders, including financial institution representatives, law enforcement agents, Certified Public Accountants, attorneys, and other relevant personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Must have at least ten years of federal law enforcement experience.
  • Must have at least five years of federal health care fraud investigative experience in a similar position.
  • Must have at least five years of forensic accounting experience.
  • Must have a valid Kentucky driver’s license and dependable vehicle.
  • Must have an active security clearance issued by a federal government agency.
