We are currently seeking to add an entry-level Product Development Engineer to our team of professionals. This is a hands-on technical position responsible for launching new metal injection molded (MIM) products. This position develops MIM product manufacturing procedures, documents and qualifies all processes for new products for submission to attain PPAP approval of new products. It is responsible for working with customers and operations to meet cost and timing requirements and resolving technical issues on existing products. Based in Wilsonville, Oregon, this position's responsibilities include:

• Management of new product development activities including:
  • Preparation and management of project schedules and timelines
  • Development of supporting documentation
  • Tooling, Process and Gaging validation activities (capability studies) and coordination of internal resources to meet program objectives
• Provides feedback on DFM in support of new business
• Supports corrective action activities (root cause analysis) as needed
• Supports process validation and development activities (in support of operations) as directed
• Supports LEAN Manufacturing activities as directed

Experience and Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Prefer 1-3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
• Equivalent combination of knowledge/experience/education may be substituted in lieu of degree of years of experience.
• Knowledge of the PPAP process as it relates to IATF 16949 and ISO 13485.
• Ability to manage projects
• Strong project management skills and time management skills
• High mechanical aptitude, particularly in the area of product design
• Ability to read blueprints and understanding of GDT
• Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences including customers
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• Solid problem solving skills
• Ability to work extended hours as needed
• Prefer experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software
• Knowledge of industrial statistics

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday.

Work Environment:

• Work is primarily in an office setting located in a manufacturing plant with some work regularly performed on the factory floor. As such, the job may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work on the factory floor and may include hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

Salary Range: $74,000 - $82,000 DOE
