Engineering Internship

As an member of the Mantis Engineering team, you will have a unique opportunity to be the bridge between design and test; equally anchored in both disciplines with the ability to spearhead change throughout a product’s life cycle. You will provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a hands on, applied role in hardware assembly. You will have the opportunity to work on and improve the wide variety of components that enable Rosotics hardware to be the simplest and most robust technologies for large-scale additive manufacturing. You will need strong problem-solving ability and relentless curiosity, practicing breakthrough approaches to control system development and test procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Hands-on test and integration of primary and secondary structures, components, and architectures for the Mantis Production System
• Perform case-use and performance testing to validate analysis and demonstrate compliance to criteria
• Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your work, challenging assumptions and building strong professional relationships
• Assist in designing, optimizing, and prototyping components for metal 3D printing applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our product is meeting the needs of our customers and that we are staying ahead of the competition
• Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation
• Provide technical support to other teams, including product development and manufacturing
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in materials engineering

Basic Qualifications:

• Pursuing degree in relevant engineering discipline (material, mechanical, software, automation, electrical, or mechatronics engineering) with anticipation of degree within 12 months
• Proven ability to practically apply first principles to solve real, complex problems

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Pursuing advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Demonstrated ability to manufacture and test hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team outside a classroom setting.
• Prior experience or coursework related to 3D printing or additive manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Python or other programming languages.
• Experience in industrial environments where large equipment is in use; familiarity with, and respect for, workplace safety requirements that are meant to govern the safe operation of large articulated systems using high current electrical power.

• Must be able to commute regularly to the Falcon Field Airport in Mesa, AZ
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
