Streib Company is Hiring an Electrical Estimator Near St. Louis, MO

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for both residential and commercial electrical projects, including analyzing plans and specifications, conducting site visits, and determining material and labor costs. The Electrical Estimator will work closely with our project management team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, including both residential and commercial.
  • Conduct site visits to assess the scope of work and identify potential issues or challenges.
  • Determine material and labor costs for projects, including obtaining quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and bids for clients, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and timelines.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain accurate records of project costs, change orders, and other relevant information.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and post-bid meetings.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and pricing to ensure competitiveness in the market.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience in electrical estimating, including both residential and commercial projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Familiarity with construction project management software, such as Procore or PlanGrid
  • Knowledge of value engineering and cost-saving techniques
  • Understanding of risk management and ability to identify potential project risks.
  • Experience in negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best possible pricing and terms.
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform complex calculations accurately.
  • Familiarity with estimating methods such as unit pricing, lump-sum, and time and materials
  • Knowledge of different electrical systems, such as lighting, power distribution, and low voltage systems
  • Understanding of different contract types and ability to select the best contract for a given project.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and other safety requirements for electrical projects.
