Summary

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The HR Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation and review of the employee timecard for disbursement on the bi-weekly payroll using the Kronos time and attendance system. This includes duties surrounding the maintenance and accuracy of the electronic timecard in the payroll system, organizational training around payroll responsibilities and maintaining internal controls and records. The HR Payroll Specialist is also responsible for maintaining general system functions such as updating wage tables and providing system support that is related to the payroll functions.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education/Experience: Two (2) year Associates Degree and two (2) years experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll; OR
      Four (4) years experience in Human Resources and/or Payroll. 
      Strong computer skills including MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook). 
      Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Education: N/A
      Experience: Experience with processing in-house payroll. Kronos system knowledge highly preferred. Health care experience a plus.

  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles and accepted payroll practices. Proficient in computer operation such as accurate data entry according to system specifications, word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to effective and sensitively communicate with all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Works concurrently on numerous projects and often with significant interruptions – maintains the ability to work within deadlines and organizes work and priorities while maintaining the highest level of accuracy. Ability to work independently and to exercise appropriate discretion and confidentiality. Works with complex documents, including labor agreements and policy documents.
    • READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.
    • WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
    • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • REASONING ABILITY - Advanced Skills: Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
