Job Summary

The University of Portland located in Portland, Oregon, USA invites applications for a faculty position as a Clinical Teaching Associate in the Simulated Health Center of the School of Nursing & Health Innovations to begin August 15, 2024. Forward-thinking, creative faculty with expertise in clinical teaching, psychomotor skills, nursing education, simulation, informatics and/or clinical technology are encouraged to apply.

The School of Nursing & Health Innovations (SONHI) values a diversity of backgrounds and intellectual perspectives that create an environment of rich student mentoring within a community of scholars. The undergraduate and doctoral programs are built on the interconnectedness of individual social needs, clinical care, and community conditions. Successful candidates will have a high level of enthusiasm and engagement in innovative and inclusive pedagogy. The SONHI is ideally suited for candidates with a focus on cultivating human learning capacity and who are dedicated to addressing social determinants of health. The SONHI implements state of the art simulation in ambulatory, acute, and telemedicine facilities..

Core Duties

University of Portland faculty teach, advise, conduct research, and serve the School and the University.

All SONHI faculty teach across programs, as well as assist students in achievement of course objectives, guide student interaction in course-related work groups, grade coursework and provide feedback.

Grounded in social justice, all SONHI faculty are expected to contribute to and be fully committed to meeting our school's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, in order to help create and sustain an anti-racist culture of equity and inclusivity and improve the recruitment, retention, and support of students, faculty, and staff with marginalized identities.

Education & Experience

* Required: Bachelor of science in nursing

* Preferred: Master of science in nursing or enrolled in a M.S.N. program by the time of employment

* Preferred: Experience in nursing education or equivalent discipline

* Preferred: Simulation lab experience

Certifications & Licenses

* Required: Active unencumbered license as an Oregon R.N. or eligible for licensure in Oregon.

* Strong orientation towards continued learning and applying learning in the teaching and environment.

* Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student mentoring.

Physical Requirements

* Frequently: sit, perform desk-based computer tasks; use fine manipulation and grasp; use a telephone; write by hand; sort and file paperwork.

* Occasionally: stand and walk; twist; lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

* Occasionally: ability to attend events and activities on or off campus.

* Frequently: ability to interact and communicate with members of the University and others as necessary.
