About Great Jobs KC
KC Scholars (dba Great Jobs KC) (www.greatjobskc.org) is a 501(c)(3) college scholarship and tuition-free job training program. Its goal is to support persistence and increase the college completion rate for low- and modest-income students across the six-county, bi-state service region and secure family-sustaining careers. The organization was designed to change thousands of individual lives and transform the region by preparing the local future workforce and contributing to the regional economy. The KC Scholars Scholarship Program awards traditional college scholarships to high school juniors, adult learner scholarships to adults 18 years and older, and college savings match awards to high school freshmen. The Great Jobs KC program provides tuition assistance to approved career training programs in high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, logistics/warehousing, manufacturing, and service careers. With the support of Great Jobs KC, adults 17 and older can learn the skills needed in one year or less to secure a job with family-sustaining wages. Great Jobs KC supports all its Scholars throughout their college or job training and into their first year of employment.

About The Role

Reports to:
Sr. Manager of Marketing & Communications
Location: Kansas City, MO, Hybrid 2 days in office, 3 days remote (technology provided)
Status: Exempt, Full-time
Salary: Annual salary based on experience

Operating hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm CST

Key Performance Indicators:
  • Increase the efficiency of workflow for the departments for creative deliverables.
  • Develop creative solutions and capture dept ideas faster by 15%.
  • Increase social media impact and engagement by 20%
  • Improve quality control on communications for each department.
  • Improve deliverable timelines by 10%.

Overview:
As a Digital Designer at Great Jobs KC, you will be pivotal in creating visually compelling and engaging materials to support our marketing and communications initiatives. You will be responsible for designing web assets, graphics for print and digital media, and other visual content that helps us effectively communicate our mission and engage our diverse audience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Graphic Design: Create visually appealing and on-brand graphics for various marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, social media graphics, banners, infographics, and presentations.
  • Web Design: Collaborate with the digital team to design and update web assets, landing pages, and user interfaces that enhance the user experience and reflect our brand identity.
  • WordPress Management: Maintain and update the organization's WordPress website, ensuring that content is current, and design elements are cohesive with our brand guidelines.
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Utilize Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator to produce high-quality print and digital materials, including publications, posters, and vector graphics.
  • Brand Consistency: Have high-level attention to detail to ensure that all design materials align with Great Jobs KC brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent and professional visual identity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team to brainstorm and execute creative design concepts that meet project goals and objectives.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to evolving priorities and projects, managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain brand and message consistency in a constantly evolving environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, or a related field preferred.

Work Experience:
  • Five years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with web design, WordPress, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your creative design skills and versatility.
  • Proficiency in graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing project needs.
