Purpose and Importance of Position
The Product Owner manages a portfolio of internal business systems and processes that transform the way we work and drive business results. Portfolio examples include claims, reinsurance, & legal systems. The Product Owner will use Agile/Scrum and work closely with cross-functional business and technical stakeholders to create and maintain product roadmaps, define product requirements, prioritize features, and ensure successful product delivery. The projects include a range of scope and complexity, varying levels of strategy and business planning. The ideal candidate is passionate about the insurance industry, customer-centric, and possesses strong communication and leadership skills.
Essential Functions
- Builds and nurtures strong relationships with key Business and Technical stakeholders.
- Partner with key stakeholders to define, maintain and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap within the assigned portfolio of systems and aligned to key business and departmental objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and define user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with development teams to ensure timely and high-quality on prioritized & high business value product delivery.
- Serve as Product Owner within Agile Scrum or Kanban methodology to lead product backlog grooming sessions and sprint planning meetings aligned with key business and departmental objectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for product-related questions and decisions.
- Develop knowledge of business processes and business utilization on key Claims, Legal and Reinsurance systems.
- Utilize knowledge of portfolio systems to drive product enhancements and integrations to meet key Business and departmental objectives.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
- Support business acquisitions and migrations.
- Identify, Maintain and Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and drive continuous improvement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the assigned portfolio systems.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence across all engaged teams.

Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification is a plus.
- Proven 3 to 5 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in the insurance industry.
- Experience in P&C Insurance service, reinsurance and/or claims functions preferred.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, processes, and regulations.
- Knowledge of claims systems (ClaimCenter or JW FileHandler) and Sapiens reinsurance systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and manage stakeholders effectively.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, preferably with Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Required Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, technology or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred
Preferred Education or Certification
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Lean Management, Agile/Scrum, PMP

Work Environment / Physical Demands
This position operates in a professional based collaborative environment and must have the ability to timely produce thorough, accurate work with many competing demands, deadlines, and distractions. The position uses standard equipment such as phones, computers, copiers/printers and filing cabinets. Noise level is moderate.
