The Child & Family Guidance Center is Hiring a Clinical Supervisor, Reunification Program Near Bridgeport, CT

Since 1925 The Child and Family Guidance Center has been serving children and families. We provide culturally informed mental health care and complementary supports, regardless of ability to pay. The Child and Family Guidance Center is currently seeking a full-time Supervisor forour Reunification and Therapeutic Family Time program. The program facilitates reunification of separated families by providing intensive support and education so that successful and permanent family reunification is achieved. 

The RTFT Program Supervisor will oversee all aspects of service provision within the Reunification and Therapeutic Family Time program. The Supervisor will report directly to the Program Manager. Supervisor will have direct service experience, knowledge of case management, family systems, organizing and coordination, along with exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Supervisor will provide direction and consultation on the work with each family.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following Essential Functions:

  • Provide weekly individual and group supervision for staff
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative supervision surrounding case-load and medical records weekly per program guidelines.
  • Will ensure that prior to the initiation of reunification services, the Clinician will work with the family for up to 30 days to provide feedback and recommendations regarding the family's readiness for reunification.
  • Identify family resources and informal/formal supports with the family and how they may be used in safety planning.
  • Manage and maintain model fidelity to RTFT program, regular supervision and feedback to all RTFT direct reports according to model.
  • Will ensure that staff provides Therapeutic Family Time/ Family Time Services to assigned families who have been identified as needing services, including but not limited to parenting and child development education, advocacy and support, and assistance with obtaining community resources.
  • Review/explore safety concerns and risk factors that may impact child safety with the family and DCF.
  • Ensure that staff maintains an adequate caseload of families per program guidelines.
  • Utilizes recognized curricula to improve parenting skills and increase parents’ understanding of normal child growth and development.
  • Prior to the initiation of reunification services, the Clinician will work with the family for up to 30 days to provide feedback and recommendations regarding the family's readiness for reunification.
  • Provide Therapeutic Family Time/ Family Time Services to assigned families who have been identified as needing services, including but not limited to parenting and child development education, advocacy and support, and assistance with obtaining community resources.
  • Review/explore safety concerns and risk factors that may impact child safety with the family and DCF
  • Observe family interactions and assess family functioning, skills, parental capabilities, and parent's motivation to change.

Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field
  • Must have valid CT driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Must possess at least 2 years’ experience in mental health and/or child welfare with at least three of those years in an administrative position.
  • Knowledge of child abuse and neglect (mandated reporting) statutes preferred. 
  • Ability and willingness to work with families of all races and socio-economic backgrounds with cultural competence and sensitivity.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish (preferred)
