Performance Responsibilities:-Assists with the opening and closing of the facilities as required.-Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are either open or locked according to the Principal's facility security plan and that all panic door hardware are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.-Checks environmental conditions (e.g., heat, ventilation, air conditioning systems) as required to ensure comfortable building environment and appropriately reports problems if a remedy cannot be corrected;-Makes minor repairs as appropriate and remedies unsafe or unhealthy conditions if possible, but reports the need for major repairs and or very unsafe and unhealthy conditions to the Principal.-Performs custodial work in assigned areas as well as throughout both the interior and exterior facilities (e.g. picking up rubbish and debris, emptying and cleaning of all rubbish and recycling containers, disposing of trash, sweeping and washing hallways and classroom floors, dusting, cleaning and polishing furniture and shades, vacuuming carpets, stripping wax and re-waxing floors, mopping (dry and wet), disinfecting floors, sinks, drinking fountains, toilets, washing walls, windows,and mirrors, dusting and cleaning light fixtures, including replacing light bulbs as needed.-Checks for quantity of disposable supplies (e.g., toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etc.) and replenishes such supplies as needed.-Moves furniture, equipment, etc. to set up for special events and activities.-Keeps cleaning equipment and custodial facilities clean, neat, and in good repair.-Performs grounds work and minor landscaping chores to maintain the school grounds in a safe, healthy and attractive condition.-Shovels, snow blows, and sands walkways, driveway, and parking areas, as required.-Assists in emergency situations as would be considered appropriate for a custodian.-Monitors building use, as approved by the Principal, and maintains a friendly and helpful attitude to all visitors.-Reports to work, if available, in emergency and unusual circumstances. -Perform all other duties as required by the Head Custodian or Principal.General Expectations:-Meet routine responsibilities consistently.-Manage time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.-Maintain strong attendance and punctuality.-Work independently with general guidance.-Maintain cooperative relationships with students and adults.-Operate standard office equipment including computer, email, and copier.-Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Physical Requirements:-Good general health.-Lift, push, or pull 50 pounds, as required.-Mobility to regularly walk, stand, stoop, reach, and bend.-Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
