Looking for a Senior RF/Network Engineer. This position will apply knowledge and expertise to
perform technical engineering support and analysis of satellite and ground network infrastructures
for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS). The position location is in San Diego, CA..
OVERVIEW
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in satellite communication systems: knowledge of satellite communication protocols,
and ground infrastructure hardware.
- Understanding of space-based network security standards: Given the sensitive nature of space
systems, expertise in securing satellite networks and communication links.
- Experience with ground station operations: Ability to work with ground terminals to ensure
reliable communications with the MUOS spacecraft.
- Knowledge of space industry standards: Understanding industry-specific standards and
regulations related to space systems for compliance and operational efficiency.
- Designing, optimizing, troubleshooting, and managing hardware and software components in a
multi-enclave network.
- Leading network architecture design, analysis, testing and hardware implementation.
- Network design and development to modify, and or improve functionality.
- Expertise in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge in network protocols, security standards, and network performance optimization.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and technologies.
- Strong ability to analyze requirements based on scientific and engineering guidelines. Including
hardware, and software technical baselines.
- Participate in modeling, simulation, and analysis of network system performance.
- Reviewing hardware and software designs for spacecraft, and ground station elements.
- Providing recommendations on systems integration and engineering baseline changes and
assessing the technical maturity and risk of development projects.
- Providing technical oversight and recommendations related to effective testing and validating
system requirements. Reviewing test reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in developing / reviewing operational procedures for network management, mission
planning, and network handover.
- Assessing and integrating engineering activities across multiple projects and multiple program
areas.
- Preparing, reviewing, and editing reports and briefings.
- Attending project meetings and reviews to include technical interchange meetings, design
reviews, and program management reviews.
- Assisting the Government in analyzing contractor concept designs at the system and subsystem
levels.
- Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
- Continuous learning and keeping up to date with industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field with a minimum
10 years of experience in network engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience and comfort working with servers, routers, switches, firewalls,
modems, wireless access points, and Network Interface Cards (NICs).
- Experience and comfort with Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, RF equipment, and
various software tools needed for lab level development and test of RF systems.
- Professional certifications such as CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance, or
an Active Top-Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master s degree
- Active TS security clearance
- Experience working in DoD or Intelligence Community environment.
- Experience working satellite programs
