TELEWORK This position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in office. This position is in our Abilene office.

This position is a member of our North Central & West Texas Area Division.
WHAT YOU WILL DO As a part of the division's North Central & West Texas team, our Environmental Investigator II will play a key role in achieving TCEQ's mission. You would use your skills and experience to:
- Conduct technical inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports that documents field activities and observed conditions.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and prepare technical papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects
- Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations
- Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field generally preferred, but not required.
OR Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience interpreting rules, regulations, policies, or procedures
- Experience conducting inspections or investigations.
- Experience collecting environmental samples
- Experience interacting with the public, media, and/or regulated community
- Experience working with environmental issues, specifically waste and water supply system issues

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.
