SeaQuest is Hiring a Wildlife Husbandry Manager Near Folsom, CA
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Bird/Reptile/Mammal department’s daily operations to ensure that the team is following the best practices for animal care, safety, and facility maintenance
- Ensure team members are interacting with guests
- Guest interaction
- Public speaking
- Plan, organize and manage the activities of the husbandry staff
- Establish and maintain department team member schedules
- Implement and follow procedures to ensure animal welfare is up to company and state standards.
- Schedule and monitor veterinary visits
- Schedule show performances
- Must be flexible and understand that your job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to help out in other areas.
- Check water parameters weekly for ALL tanks that will, or do have, Wildlife animals in them.
- Five plus years managing in a zoo or aquarium
- Animal Training is a plus
- Comfortable with both animals and people
- Exotic animal care
- Extensive knowledge of various species including birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects
- Demonstrate a high level of organization in the workplace
- Be a strong self-motivator
- Effectively communicate information verbally and in writing
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
- Knowledge and desire to learn about which animals are allowed in our facility
Education:
- Degree in related field is preferred but not necessary
Schedule:
- Full-time
- Monday-Friday
- Weekends
- Holidays
