SeaQuest is Hiring a Wildlife Husbandry Manager Near Folsom, CA
Responsibilities:
Oversee the Bird/Reptile/Mammal department’s daily operations to ensure that the team is following the best practices for animal care, safety, and facility maintenance
Ensure team members are interacting with guests
Guest interaction
Public speaking
Plan, organize and manage the activities of the husbandry staff
Establish and maintain department team member schedules
Implement and follow procedures to ensure animal welfare is up to company and state standards.
Schedule and monitor veterinary visits
Schedule show performances
Must be flexible and understand that your job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to help out in other areas.
Check water parameters weekly for ALL tanks that will, or do have, Wildlife animals in them.
Five plus years managing in a zoo or aquarium
Animal Training is a plus
Comfortable with both animals and people
Exotic animal care
Extensive knowledge of various species including birds, reptiles, mammals, and insects
Demonstrate a high level of organization in the workplace
Be a strong self-motivator
Effectively communicate information verbally and in writing
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
Knowledge and desire to learn about which animals are allowed in our facility
Education:
Degree in related field is preferred but not necessary
