Great Northern Equipment is excited to announce our 2024 Internship Program. The program is designed to kick-start your career and provide real-world experience in your chosen profession. Interns will further develop their skills and knowledge by completing project-based work that addresses real business experience. The program also connects participants with leadership at various levels of the organization and provides an inside view of our Company’s environment and culture. The program structure includes an end-of-program project presentation by the intern to members of the management team.
Great Northern Equipment is currently searching for an intern to join our Accounting & Finance department. You will be assigned a specific project that will not only maximize your potential but add great value to our company!
The ideal candidate for this role must be able to work onsite, either at Great Northern Equipment in Rogers, MN, or at K&M Manufacturing in Renville, MN.
Some of the responsibilities will include:
Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include reviewing and coding purchase orders, matching receivers, and resolving discrepancies.
Ensures outstanding payables are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
Performs data entry for various accounting transactions.
Helps with month-end closing tasks and preparing journal entries.
Engages in a variety of projects, including but not limited to sales tax certification, vender compliance, process documentation, preparing for an ERP migration and more!
Communicates with internal teams and external vendors to resolve any accounting discrepancies or issues.
Assists with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions.
Maintains accurate and organized files and records.
Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Exposure to an ERP migration.
Assigned mentor to work with you one-on-one.
Ability to expand upon your education/knowledge with real-life hands-on career duties and systems use.
Ability to work on a team, as well as own individual responsibilities.
Interaction with business leaders from all departments.
What we are seeking in an intern:
Pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel & Word skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated.
Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
