Job Summary:

This position reports to the Gateway Manager and is responsible for scheduling trips for freight deliveries, including scheduling drivers and routes. This position serves as a central contact point for both truck drivers and customers, coordinating the shipping process. In this fast-paced job, Truck Dispatchers are responsible for multiple trucks, customers, drivers, and routes, which requires extreme attention to detail. They also monitor trucks and drivers once they’re enroute, and they help if an issue arises with a pickup or delivery. This role requires a mix of leadership and decision making to help the business identify client and customer demands and work with a team of professionals to meet those demands. Candidate must be effective communicators and good leaders. Multitasking is essential as people in this position need to keep track of people and vehicles.

Pay Range:

$22-28 DOE

This position qualifies for the Loyalty Incentive Program bonus paid out quarterly in the amount of $2 per hour worked not including PTO or holiday pay.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles, or equipment to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests or immediate needs
• Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews, field inspectors, supervisors, or emergency personnel.
• Using telephones, two-way radios or text messages to contact employees or emergency personnel.
• Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment.
• Preparing daily work such as schedules
• Preparing work orders for crew or receiving work orders from work crews.
• Being in charge of communications within company assigned territories.
• Keeping and organizing work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed, inventory records and other information.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of trucking regulations and laws.
• Understanding of how shipping, trucking and logistics work.
• Analytical skills to problem-solve and coordinate difficult situations.
• Technology skills, particularly in transportation management software.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills to clearly relay information to all involved parties.
• Ability to stay calm in fast-paced situations.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of condition.
• Excellent clerical and organizational skills to keep track of schedules, routes, and personnel.
• Knowledge of computers for scheduling and other dispatching duties.
• Ability to multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting, events happening at the same time.
• Ability to work under stress and remain calm and to calm other people during rapidly changing circumstances. 
• Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

• Physical Requirements:

  The work requires routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Moving items over fifty pounds will be done using team lift. Must meet physical lifting requirements of 50 lbs.
