Description

The Pain Clinic RN is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Procedural Pain Clinic. The Pain Clinic RN will provide support to the Surgical Services Department, Pain Clinic Physician, Pain Scheduler, Primary Care Providers, and Clinic Staff. This RN will assist with scheduling, chart preparation, assisting during procedures, and the delivery of professional nursing care throughout the phases of care for Pain Clinic Patients. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans for delivery of optimal patient care for patients in the Pain Clinic
• Assists with patient telephone calls, including triage, clinical questions, and concerns
• Communicate and collaborate with support departments such as Patient Access, Laboratory, DI, and Clinic to maintain and to improve process issues as arise.
• Assist with scheduling, chart preparation, and pre-op phone calls for patients undergoing pain procedures
• Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing pain procedures 
• Provide care to patients in Pre/Post phases of care in Same Day Surgery, prepping patients for procedures and preparing for discharge.
• Provide education to patients during Pre/Post phases of care 
• Assist provider with pain procedures, to include aseptic technique, equipment management, and positioning
• Administer IV Sedation and maintain yearly competency 
• Complete appropriate EMR documentation
• Assure all equipment and necessary medications are available and ready for scheduled procedures
• Develop and update procedure preference cards, supplies, and documentation tools
• Assist with training & precepting 
• Complete other projects as assigned by the Manager of Surgical Services or Pain Lead
• Orient to and support the Short Stay Department based on department needs

Requirements

Education :

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Licensure:

• Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse license required

Certifications:

• BLS required at time of hire
• ACLS required within six months of hire

Experience:

• 3 years of healthcare experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
