Job Summary:
The Quality Technician is responsible for performing multiple functions to support organizational and operational quality standards and to maintain compliance to the requirements of Inland's Quality Management System (QMS). This position is hands on and requires a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities. The Quality Technician will further be responsible for sampling product, lab testing and diagnostics, internal auditing, documentation, and ensuring the safety and quality of all Inland products. The individual in this role will be expected to partner with cross-functional teams, such as Operations, Packaging and Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Sales and Account Services, and Pre-press to perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement projects throughout the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage an organized record retention process for quality and production documentation including but not limited to job packets, process inspection records, calibration records, and certificate of analysis
  • Master Standard Management including: creation, obsolescence, and filing sample cards
  • Performs inspections, including incoming, in-process and final release to ensure product quality requirements have been achieved and properly documented
  • Manages Supplier Non-Conformances and related supplier communications
  • Assists with management of quality concerns and non-conforming product
  • Develops and documents test methods, including performing measurement system analysis studies
  • Assists with product quality failure investigations
  • Conducts and documents internal audits and inspections of various processes and systems and leads resulting corrective action activities
  • Manages, maintains, and calibrates test and measurement equipment
  • Performs statistical analysis of quality data to identify trends and develop action plans
  • Creates, reviews, and maintains retention of Certificates of Analysis for finished products and raw materials
  • Leads and participates in various quality-focused projects as assigned
  • Performs all duties in a safe, productive, and quality-minded manner
  • Supports and serves as a back-up to the Product Quality Coordinator including customer communication, complaint entry and management, strategic objectives, customer & third-party audits, and pest control management.

Essential skills and experience:
  • 2-year technical degree or High School/General Education diploma with 2 years experience (minimum) in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience with Quality Management Systems
  • Familiarity with lab safety and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • High sense of urgency and ability to work self-directed in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to compose and produce reports, documents, and related materials
  • General computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Non-Essential skills and experience:
  • Previous experience in a printing and packaging environment desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance
Work Environment:
Operates in a demanding, fast-paced, people-oriented manufacturing environment with frequent changes and interruptions, and multiple project assignments. Works with a variety of people including vendors, customers, employees, managers, and executives. Additional Food Safety Requirements will be implemented in this position.
Required Work Schedule:
  • Typically works Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Must be flexible to attend meetings, functions and to be available during off hours (2nd and 3rd shift), weekends, and holidays to meet organizational initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
Walk, sit, bend, stoop, push, pull and stand; lift 20 pounds; 20/40 vision acuity, pass Ishihara Color Assessment
