Silverdale Baptist Academy is Hiring a HS Athletic Director Near Chattanooga, TN

OVERVIEW

The High School Athletic Director is a highly motivated and experienced administrator tasked with leading, guiding and managing the high school’s athletic program. The Athletic Director must be surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, willing to set an example for living the Christian life, and able to lead in alignment with the Core Beliefs, Mission and Vision of SBA. When the Athletic Director is strong and competent, a good athletic program will be developed and God’s name will be respected and honored in the community.

The quality of SBA’s athletic program is directly related to the spiritual gifts, personal qualities, professional competence, and diligence of the Athletic Director. He or she is the person most accountable for the progress of the athletic programs. The Athletic Director will be able to plan, organize, implement, and coordinate all aspects of a competitive interscholastic athletic program. The ideal candidate will be committed to the discipleship of others, a strategic thinker, adept at problem-solving, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have a passion for athletics and the development of the student-athlete.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Supervision and Leadership

  • Recruit, hire and train competent coaches and athletic staff who share a love for the Lord and athletics.

  • Plan and implement proper professional development for all athletic staff including coaches.

  • Ensure all coaches and staff are educated on the philosophy and mission of SBA, seeking to uphold it in every aspect.

  • Disciple the coaches and athletic staff in their spiritual and professional growth.

  • Encourage and maintain the unity of the Holy Spirit in the athletic department.

  • Develop and maintain clarity with coaches and athletics staff about athletic program and individual team goals.

  • Evaluate the performance of individual coaches and athletics staff.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Inspire and maintain strong relationships throughout the athletic department, Silverdale Baptist Academy and Church, as well as the broader Silverdale community.

  • Apply the Matthew 18 principle when issues arise with all stakeholders.

  • Develop and distribute an SBA Athletic Handbook.

  • Foster an environment of togetherness and SBA pride throughout all schools.

  • Grow mutually beneficial relationships both within the Academy and without.

  • Operate as the Head of School’s liaison on the 1999 Club Board.

  • Assist eligible student-athletes in obtaining athletic scholarships.

  • Plan and implement recognition programs for student-athletes.

Event Management

  • Plan and organize all interscholastic events and related activities

  • Supervise and coordinate the planning, organization and execution of athletic events, such as competitions, tournaments and fundraising activities.

  • Design, revise, and implement operation rules, policies, and regulations governing the conduct of athletic events.

  • Organize and arrange details of visiting teams.

  • Ensure proper official scheduling.

  • Recruit officials, game administrators, security and medical personnel required for proper supervision of home games.

  • Responsible for making if necessary arrangements for use of athletic facilities off campus.

  • Report athletic competition results to the media and public as appropriate.

  • Keep an adequate accounting of team and individual records

Financial Administration

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the athletic department budget, including monitoring expenditures and revenue generation.

  • Oversee team accounts, fundraising, and required fiduciary reports.

  • Supervise ticket, SBA Athletic store, and concession sales connected with athletic program and assume responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved.

  • Effectively grow athletic designated funds through marketing relationships and other fundraising means.

  • Complete a thorough inventory of athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies, supervising their cleaning, storage and maintenance as necessary.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with the athletic regulations, policies, and guidelines set forth by the TSSAA.

  • Stay up to date with changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to operational practices to maintain compliance.

  • Administer effective insurance practices and ensure adequate coverage.

  • Facilitate the physical examination of athletes in accordance with TSSAA regulations.

  • Develop and maintain a release and participation form on all athletes.

  • Input and record student-athlete eligibility in accordance with SBA and TSSAA policies.

  • Strong commitment to SBA’s mission and vision statements, policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Proven experience (5 years) in athletic administration, or a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.

  • Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

  • Exceptional communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational, management, and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial resources effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of TSSAA rules and regulations, as well as other relevant governing bodies.
