Williams Signal is looking for a software developer. Job Description below:

Location - this will initially likely permanently be a local based hire working at the office during a set schedule.

Education - A background in computer science is strongly preferred as are candidates who have a higher GPA (>3.5)

Work Ethic - Applicant should be self motivated and when big jobs are identified that have a tight time constraint, applicant should take the initiative and work longer hours (50-70) towards accomplishing the objective.

Temperament - Applicant needs to be flexible and agreeable natured. it is expected applicant may be given tasks, and asked to redo tasks if a change in objective is decided. An example would be going through an entire database and reconfiguring field names ( a process which could take hours) and then going through and redoing the whole thing if given updated instruction. Applicant should understand and expect this coming into this position.

Attention to detail - position requires a high degree of attention to detail and consistancy of work product. Inconsistant naming conventions and producing difficult to read code should be avoided. Clean code is the objective on all projects.

Manage Servers (Running on Microsoft Server 2016). This includes server monitoring for updates, crashes, updating SSL certificates, managing back up schedules, ensuring proper security of servers

Management of FileMaker Server. Hosted on Windows Server - management of backups, files, scheduled scripts, licensing, etc...

Manage Various Accounts for the Organization (GMAIL, Adobe, Google Drive, FileMaker, etc..). This involves creating new accounts for new users & removing users when needed.

FileMaker Software Maintenance, Development, and Management - Our organization has multiple FileMaker files hosted and are always being improved upon. Involves UI design, filemaker scripting language to carry out logic, and databse field calculations. Knowledge of Filemaker is BIG.

BetterForms Front End UI development - One of our front ends is built on a product called FM Better Forms. The position will involve making updates and improvements to this software. Experience required here involves some javascript, html, and JSON.

Flutter / Flutter Flow Development - Another one of our UI's utilizes FlutterFlow to display data from our FileMaker database backend. This position will involve working with this software to improve user experience from a UI perspective.

Website Development / Monitoring / Maintenance - We use Webflow for our current website. This website needs to be redesigned.

JSON Syntax - all of our software applications involve the persistant use of JSON throughout. Applicant should be well versed in reading and understanding JSON syntax.

Rest APIs - the primary means by which our applications communicate with one another is through the Rest API. Applicant should be well versed in working with Rest APIs and should be able to demonstrate competancy using services such as Postman to test API calls.

Supabase - One of our backend databases is Supabase - applicant should have familiarity working with PostGres Database or at least have an understanding of how to carry out basic operations in Supabase (CRUD records, setting up RLS, managing authentication, etc...)

Typical Workschedule: This would be a salary position (after a probationary period). Work is typically 9a-5p with some flexibility so long as on average 50 hours a week is put in. Updates and changes may require working very late or on weekends (when users are not on the system).

Initially, work will be performed entirely in the office. With time, some flexibility may be permitted working remote on occation - this is a matter of trust which will be built over time working within our organization.
