Overview:
The Building Maintenance Worker will be responsible for participating in the maintenance of county owned buildings, and facilities.

Responsibilities:
Assists or perform maintenance and repair work on county buildings, facilities, and related systems, to include construction, remodeling, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, grounds maintenance, custodial, and general repair/maintenance projects.

Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules and regulations; ensures adherence to safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment.

Assists or perform mechanical maintenance projects, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.

Assists or perform plumbing projects, including the installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of plumbing systems.

Assists or perform electrical projects, including the installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of electrical systems and components.

Assists or perform ground maintenance functions.

Assists or perform custodial maintenance of buildings and facilities.

Performs related duties.

Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of the practices, processes, materials and equipment used in the maintenance, repair construction and improvement of public buildings and grounds.

Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical and HVAC system maintenance and repair.

Knowledge of county and department policies and procedures.

Knowledge safe work principles.

Skill in problem solving.

Skill in prioritizing and planning.

Skill in interpersonal relations.

Skill in operating computers and job related software program

Skill in reading, understanding, and interpreting plans, blueprints, schematics and construction drawings.

Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated, and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of Georgia Electrical Class II Unrestricted License preferred.
