GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Senior Principal Cellular Software Engineer will be responsible for developing the 5G base station hardware and software platform based on Radysis L2/L3 and FlexRan or Aerial L1 software. This is part of the KWIC 5G Base Station Development. Development of Kyocera advanced base station for markets in Japan and other countries.
Job Duties:

• Setup Intel 5G Base Station CU/DU Server, Install OS, Network Interface based on various requirements.
• Install, setup containerized environment/OS/Kubernetes optimized for the execution of extreme time critical tasks
• Installs, setup FlexRAN/Aerial and Radisys and interface to Hardware Accelerator, NIC,
• Develop software architecture for Layer 1/Layer 2/Layer 3, partition software and hardware function and define the interfaces,
• Works with other engineers to develop Layer 1/layer 2/layer 3 test setup for various test cases.
• Works with team members to develop and execute Test Application, Unit Test, and E2E Test for RU/DU/CU and core.
• Works with other engineers to develop and debug of the new features from the baseline layer 1 software/server platform for DU
• Works with other engineers to exercise various Layer 1 tests, FAPI interface, Test Application, Unit Test, and Radio Mode Test OTA with combined DU-RU and UE emulator.
• Works with system engineer for fine-tuning task manager for performance optimization for various test load conditions. evaluates timing constraint and timing budget for time critical tasks (main emphasis is in Layer 1/Layer 2 function)
• Works with offshore team to debug and analyze new feature logs.
• Works closely with global protocol team to resolve customer issues found in lab/field/IOT/carrier test.
• Technical lead and manager for a team of software engineers, architect software architecture, managing task assignment/partition, progress/schedule

Qualifications:

• Master's degree with 10 years or PhD with 6 years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, communication area or related field preferred.
• 6 years of experience in Software/Firmware industrial
• Experience in the development of Carrier-grade base station with high capacity/performance requirements.
• In-depth understanding of 3GPP 5G NR and ORAN standards
• Programming: C/C and Python, Shell script, XML, YAML
• In-depth understanding of L1 Signal Processing (FFT, NCO, Filter, Encoder/Decoder. FlexRAN SDK, FlexRAN DPDK)
• In-depth understanding of FlexRAN/Aerial Task manager
• In-depth understanding of the Network and Edge Cloud Architecture and the deployment of the cloud-native Kubernetes clusters
• Experience with Server setup
• Experience with OS: Ubuntu, Redhead, Rocky Linux
• Experience Network connectivity, Ansible Host, Git Utilities
• Experience RT Kernel performance enhancement for server
• In-depth understanding of virtualization and cloudification and related hardware/software architecture
• Good understanding with HW abstraction Layer / DSP.
• Good understanding of server platform and RT kernel and accelerator
• Experience with (R&S/Viavi) test equipment and software for Layer 1 test.
• Working experience with Petalinux on Xilinx Zync platform a plus
• Good understanding of protocol stack from Layer 1 (Physical Layer) a plus
• Experience in the technical lead or technical management
• Experience Bios Profiles is a plus.

Pay grade range : $188,320 - $325,938.46
